New around here...

Hey folks, I'm kind of a newby. I have been around the site for a couple of years researching, but my plan has been further put into motion with the decision of my doctor and myself to start this ball rolling finally. He has agreed WLS is the best solution for me, and is ready to refer me to a surgeon. Now all I have to do is find one! I'm quite a bit overwhelmed by everything at the moment, and I'm in search of some advise, as well as some support. Any suggestions from anywone as far as a good surgeon goes? I am in southern Illinois, and I have IL Medicaid/Harmony Health Care as my medical coverage.

Hi Angie, Welcome to the site. I am pretty new at this myself but there are some very knowledgeable people here. I am also in Southern Illiniois (Belleville). We have meetings on the first Tuesday of every month at Southwestern Illinois College at 6:00 if you would like to attend. We always have a lot of information in the room and I am sure someone in there would be able to point you into the right direction.

Hi Angie, welcome to the board, I just posted the list of Medicaid providers that we know for sure accept it at this time. Take one thing! If you have your PCP's blessing then the rest is up to the surgeon you choose. With my list of providers I included a warning about your Psych evaluation... Welcome Angie, I have only been around for about a month but have found the people here invaluable. My surgery date is now less than three weeks away...and they have been there for me on the journery. Good luck and welcome giovanna

Hi Angie I just wanted to add my welcome to you here I went to the COMP clinic in Springfield ... not sure how far that is from where you are, but they do accept Medicaid ... see Debby's post lol. I wish you all the best in your journey! Hugz, Cathy

Thanks folks for your kind words of welcome! Belleville isn't too very far from here, maybe I'll come join yall sometime. Otherwise, I'm still on the lookout. I will do a bit of research on some of the listed medicaid docs. Thanks again.
