Need to vent!!
I was looking on my insurance website to see what claims have been paid and all that good stuff. Well my claim for the psychologist I saw was being processed. The claim was for $1,055. How can they charge that much when she only spent about 30-45 minutes with me? I just think that is crazy. Can someone explain this to me???
It's a medical industry thing. They way over charge for things, then negotiate prices with the insurance co, and they pay a % of it.
Just wait. I got my detailed bill from my surgery... $36,500 - and some of the charges were CRAZY. However, my insurance 'negotiated' and paid $21,000.
You have me curious, I'm going to have to go back and see what the insurance paid for my psych consult. I know that for the cardiac dr it was OUTRAGEOUS!

I know what ya mean. My psy. consult was over 1500. before they marked it down as insurance companies due but still I think they paid around 1200 for 40 minutes of talking and two hours of answering did I love my dad more than my mom on those computer questions. My hospital bill was 55,467.31. That was for 6 days in the hospital and 2 surgeries. I had to pay only 250. thank goodness Health Alliance took care of the rest.
