Dietician Anyone???
Did anyone have to see a dietician before their insurance would cover the surgery? I have to see one for six months a minimum of three times a month. The best part is, my insurance does not cover dieticians so it is out of pocket!!!
Anyways, I am not even sure how to find a good dietician. I have a phone call into my primary doctor but I am sitting here getting more and more upset that I have a new hurdle to jump over.
Thank you for listening to my complaints!!

Tell me about it!! I am not happy. I really thought it was a type when I got my denial letter. All weekend I just thought I will call on Monday and it will not be a big deal. Well I called and they have it as a requirement. They will not pay for weight loss meds or dieticians. She said it was the same as like Weigh****chers, they would not pay for that either. I said that was not a prerequisite and she did not care.
I tried the hospitals website, no dieticians listed there. I am waiting for a phone call from my primary care and from my surgeon's office. I work downtown Chicago, I am thinking I may just find one close to my office and go once a week at lunch.
I am not happy right now. The earliest my surgery will be is now May and that is probably pushing it. More like June!!!!

I didn't have to as a requirement for surgical approval, however, there is a dietary requirement for the clinic that I went through. I love her to pieces because she is very well educated on bariatric surgery and the needs of post-op patients. Unfortunately my ins. doesn't cover it either so I have to pay out of pocket to see her.
Three times a month sounds quite excessive though!!! That's 18 visits over 6 months! And at ~50 a pop ... yikes!!
I wish you the best luck!!!!!
