Last Night's Dateline...
Who watched?
What did ya think?
I thought it was very interesting. I love to watch someone who's had the surgery talk honestly about it. So all the outsiders can sit and think "Oh it's not that bad" HA! LOL
Are you going to watch Oprah Monday with the 500+lb woman? The way it is being advertised is making it seem as though Oprah is really going to dig into her. Just let her...I live BLOCKS away. LMAO
Melissa
I watched it, as I posted in the yahoo group, death is always a possiblity and I totally accept that possiblity but I refuse to dwell on it. I am thinking positive that I will be just fine...
Oprah is anit surgery so I wouldnt be surprised what she does.. but then not everyone can afford a private chef to cook all our meals for us.. heck if we could we'd be ok!!!
With only 10 days to go until surgery, my son, husband, and I watched it. My daughter was in the room, but at 8, she's not a big fan of news shows. My son was very interested in the situation with the man who died. He wanted to know if our surgeon had told us how many patients he had lost. We reassured him that our surgeon not only gave us that, but walked us through his actuals for each complication. He was much more interested in the risks than in a show and tell of his greatness.
I think we reassured my son. He has been very curious about the whole process, and is certainly more aware of the risks now, than perhaps he was before.
I am not a fan of Oprah. I doubt I'll watch a show where she is insinuating that everyone should lose weight the way she did, because she's so perfect.
Have a great weekend!

I'm not an Oprah fan, either. I think she's ok..but very judgemental. Esp. about WLS. Anyhoo..just being obese makes any surgery risky. I'd like to see someone compare the WLS surgery stats to other surgery on MO patients and see what the numbers are. We're more prone to DVT and other things that come along with being MO. Yes, I said 'WE'...even though my body is 131#, my head is still MO. Its a never ending battle
