Jane I wish I could give you a simple answer but there isn't one, once all your tests are done then they are submitted to insurance, I have medicaid all my tests were done within a week, now if i discount the first surgeon and the car wreck and just go from the time I sent my papers to the surgeon that I am now using it took me 3 weeks to the point where the surgeon got my papers till I had my consult insurance approval took a week after that and I could have surgery in the next two weeks but due to my work vacation I posponed it till dec. 14. SO I could have had my surgery within 8-10 weeks of my initial consult but didnt... So the answer is ask your surgeon what his procedure is and what is the normal time frame! Good luck!! It will happen be patient! Debby

Hello Jane~ The particular program that I went through required me meeting the psychologist, dietician, program coordinator and medical director all in one day. Three months later I got to meet the surgeon and my surgery was scheduled for three months after that. All in all, the whole process took between six and seven months. However, this was my second attempt and my first attempt never did come to fruition due to insurance errors. I'm a firm believer in things will happen the way that they're supposed to and definitely for a reason! Best wishes to you, Cathy

Jane, There are so many individual variables in each person's situation, I don't think there is one single set standard to answer your question. My psych eval was in late August and my surgery is scheduled for 11/12. I know there are other people who have waited as little as a month and others still who have waited more than 6 months. It really depends on your variables. Your insurance, how busy the hospital is, how many other surgeries your doctor has between then and your psych eval.. I wish I could give you a better answer but I just don't think there is one. Stef

Jane - I will finish all of my pre-op tests this week and THEN it will be submitted to my insurance. I may have a six to twelve month doctor supervised diet rider on my insurance. If that is the case, I will not be having surgery until the Spring. Nancy
