Why me?
Well I just got off the phone with our benefits manager and she said there is no way that WLS will ever be covered in our plan. Now I don't know what to do. I knew there was in exclusion in our plan but I thought we might be able to get it changed or somehow I could get it covered. Right now the doctor is getting ready to send in all my information into the insurance company but I know it wont get covered. Heck they wouldn't even cover all the labs I had done. I am so depressed right now. Why cant something good come out of this?
I am debating about looking into another insurance company but I wouldn't even know where to begin to find out if they do cover WLS or not. Then there is the pre-existing conditions. I don't even understand that. Can someone explain what exactly that means? Does anyone know of any good insurance companies that cover Illinois? Any advice would be greatly appreciate. Thanks!

Hi Kate,
I am so sorry that you are running into those problems. I am sure you are devastated. Whatever you do- don't give up!!!!!!! Have you ever thought about doing self pay. I think that OSF in Peoria will really work with you about monthly payments. Even if it takes you 20+ yrs to pay off I can tell you it is so worth it when you see how good you feel. I know that this is an extreme situation to think of- but you might be suprised. Methodist Medical Center in Peoria will also do an outpatient lap-band for about 15,000.00 (don't quote me on that though). Peoria surgical group would be a good place to start. There is a gentleman that works there who I believe is Stu who is really good about insurance and payment. I believe Peoria surgicals number is (309) 624-9810. They also have a website- www.peoriasurgical.com.
Good luck and I'm praying for you!!!
Julie
