What to expect??
As you all know, I go for my consult with Dr. Oliphant on Monday.
What can I expect when I go, what is normally done at a consult?
I have my questions for him, alot of them I got off of here, from profiles,etc.
I'm afraid if I go in asking ALOT of questions, he's going to think that I'm not well enough educated and informed about gastric bypass.
And I'm afraid if I dont ask enough, he's going to think I'm not serious enough about it.
SO how many questions is too many or not enough??
And what am I to expect. I'd really like to hear from people that went to dr. O as well as others that have not.

I'm not a pt. of Dr. O, but I would imagine asking as many ?'s as you have would be fine with him. The more the better 
. When I went in to see my surgeon for the consult, I had already read up a LOT, as I'm sure you have, and kinda discussed it 'with' him. I had also already been through another consult elsewhere. The ?'s I asked were like long term effects, what his individual techniques are like transecting the pouch or not, how he closed the incisions, proximal v. distal, etc. You've seen Sharon Neva's profile, haven't you? (I put a link to it at the bottom.) She's got a list of ?'s on there that I think is really good. I've seen some others, too, on profiles but darned if I can think of whose they were lol.
I'm so excited for you. I remember being where you are and how quickly it's all gone by. It's not even been a year since my initial consult with the COMP clinic and here I am 4+ months out.
I just hadda say, too, that I thought of you when I was driving down to Nashville for class last weekend. I waived when I went by on the highway, didja see me?

Thank you for answering my questions. It kind of helps me out. I was telling my mom I hope from here on out it goes by quicker than what it has, so far its drug by sooo slow. I started all this in March.
Girl, next time your down this way, give me a holler. when 57 merges off into 24, I'm right there, a mile off of 57(exit 45) not too far. I could have heard you honk your horn. Thats how close I am.lol

I'll bet that it will zoom by once you've had your consult. Just hang on cos it's one helluva ride lol.
I will give ya a shout next time! That drive is a real snoozer sometimes. One never realizes just how long the state of IL is until they have to drive even half the length of it lol.
