How does the appeal process work?

Well, I have BC/BS IL PPO and those lovely little scoundrels have decided (despite my 2.5 page letter from my PCP, my last 10 years of med records showing repeated attempts and failures at dieting, AND the letter Dr Frantzides sent) that I now need to provide them with (and I quote) "proof of an intensive, medically supervised 12 month diet attempt within the last 24 months"
So...Do I just tell them I don't have it? And if I do...they will most certainly deny me
So...How do you appeal? I mean, if you clearly don't have one of the things they're looking for...what will an appeal do? I guess I just don't understand the whole process...any help/thoughts would be most appreciated.
Anne, I dont have BCBS but I can tell you that they will not budge one single inch on the 12 month diet so odds are any form of appeal will fall on deaf ears. OF course that doesnt mean you can't try! You might want to contact your PCP and start the 12 month supervised diet.
Good luck! It will all work out so dont give up hope, if you do the 12 month diet whats the worst thing that can happen? you could lose some weight?
Hang in there!
