Constipation.....I could use some help.....

Hi everyone! I'm having a lot of trouble with constipation these last few days. I know it's likely because I have almost no fiber entering my body. I can and have used Milk of Magnesia, but it's awful. Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions? Thanks in advance! tracy

I am having a time with that also. Do you have pain internally in your lower back area. (like it is your bowels) I have this almost constantly. It is so uncomfortable. My doc says I am not getting enough water. I think also it could be not enough iron. Well, I will be watching the posts to see if anyone offers any good suggestions. Good Luck Joy

hi joy! i have had that pain you describe when i was vomiting and dehydrated the first week out. it is uncomfy for sure. dehydration was worse than the pain from the surgery for me. be sure to drink enough liquids! hopefully we'll hear back on how we can deal with this constipation! tracy

Hi Tracy, my surgeon prescribed Doc-o-Lace a stool softener 1 pill twice a day to help with consitpation. I also used Milk of Magnesia and drank plenty of water. Good Luck. Teah

Tracy!!!!!! You have a face Not that I've never seen ya before LOL! Anywhooo, I've heard that protein can constipate you (sure makes ya gassy) and not enuf water, but I know you get loads in so HHHHmmmmm..... what about some warm DECAF coffee or tea or soup to kinda get things a'movin? Works for me. Just a suggestion. It was GREAT seein ya Saturday. I didn't stay much longer after you guys left cause I was freeeeeeezing! Talk to ya soon, Cathy PS How'd the appt. go today?

hey cath! yeah, my photo finally made it on! the coffee sounds good and so does the tea. especially with it being so cold at night now. maybe something warm will get things goin! appts today went well. i've lost a total of 26 now. yay!! got my exercise bands and the exercises to do and then saw the nutritionist and she gave me the go ahead for veggies and a lot more options, including cereal! yay! fiber!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! she also taught me some tricks to sneak in small amounts of protein so i don't have to drink so much of that lovely protein shake i enjoy so much! also yay!!!!!!!!!! it was good to see you saturday too! i didn't figure you'd stay too much longer, it was really cold! well, gotta go! i'm going grocery shopping tomorrow to get some new stuff! tracy

How about adding fiber? You can take tablets or add a powder to your drinks. I didn't find much relief from fiber however as it just exaggerated other problems I was having. A tasty solution is to add some fake sugar to your diet. The fake sugars that end in "tol" can move your bowels. My dietician suggested sucking some hard candy. It works like magic if you can tolerate fake sugars.

hey thanks! i'll try that. my nutritionist told me i could have sugar free mints/candy now as i was concerned about my breath... but if it helps with that too...even better! tracy

Hi Tracy!!! It's nice to SEEEEE you! I had some blockage going on. Make sure you're getting in all your water. It's awful. I know but keep drinking it. You feel like you're drowning but it keeps everything lubed up. EW. LOL Also, get some juice in you. Make sure it's 100% but you can drink it. Should be no problem.
