Quickie 2 month Update
I just want to take a moment to post a quick update on my surgery. My two-month anniversary was September 28. I'm down approx. 78 pounds. All pain/discomfort, whether surgical or gas, is but a distant memory. I haven't tried to eat all things, avoiding whole cuts of beef & pork, as well as sugar, but have pretty much tried most other things. I'm pretty careful about eating slowly with lots of chewing, and most times my meals go uneventfully.
I can't eat much, and often spend the entire day feeling "full". It doesn't exactly make me feel like jumping and singing, but I'll take it as long as it keeps me from feeling hungry. And believe me, I almost never feel hungry.
All in all, I'm thrilled to be where I am, and I'm looking forward to making more and more progress toward my goal.

Rich,
Do you find it hard to resist food (s)?
I know alot of the time I will eat something without even thinking about it, and I just think that some of these kinds of old habits have to be hard to break, Whats your take on that?

Richard,
Actually, it has been surprisingly easy. I'm sure it's different with different people, but I get full so very easily that even those foods that used to be my "pig-out" foods don't interest me after a few bites. The desire to keep eating is still there, but if I go for 1 or 2 more bites I know I will get sick. I suspect I'm pretty lucky in this regard.
The one thing I'm avoiding is sugar. One of my major downfalls has always been ice cream. I used to be able to knock off a pint with no problem at one sitting. So far, I haven't even tried any. I'm told that some post-ops can't handle something so sugary, but I don't want to test that just yet. Since I know it's a weakness of mine, I'm going to try to hold off on even sampling it until I am MUCH farther along toward my goal.
I hope this has been helpful.
