Anyone from Bloomington/Normal??

I've looked in the doctor directory on this site, and I'm not seeing doctors listed for Bloomington/Normal, so I'm thinking I'd have to go to Peoria? Does anyone from this area have a compassionate doctor they can recommend for an initial visit? I'm really not sure if I need to see a doctor about my weight right off the bat, or if I should visit for the co-morbidities first (foot and back pain) so I can develop a "history" before I even attempt to get WLS approved. My insurance is currently First Heath PPO, but my husband says that his employer will discontinue that next year for BC/BS, which seems to do a good job of approving WLS if you're in the PPO.

Hi Nichole I'm not sure about doctors in Peoria, but I went to the COMP (comprehensive obesity management) clinic in Springfield which'd only be about an hour (if that) for you. Dr. Sutyak is an awesome surgeon and there's a team of professionals who assess and continue to follow up with you afterwards (of which I cannot stress the importance!). Their number is 217-545-COMP. I am from Heyworth (10 miles south of you). I went to Dr. Oliphant at Carle Clinic in Urbana. I have the same insurance as you and they covered it with no problem. Good luck!
