Nervous & Anxious
Hi - my name is Kristi and my surgery is Oct. 18th. I am nervous and anxious. Sometimes I find myselfing saying...what the heck are you doing?? But then I visit this website and look at the before and after pictures and feel better about things.
The 2 weeks before my surgery I have to be on a liquid diet and also have to drink something called Recovery Impact. This helps boost the immune system and helps with the healing process. I figured out that next week is my last week for "real food" for quite awhile and I am feeling very on edge. I wonder - liquids before and after....oh my.
The surgeon that is doing my surgery likes his patient's to do the liquid diet for 2 weeks because it actually helps to shrink the liver - which helps lessen the possibility of having to do an open procedure. Well, I am all for not being totally opened up but...am already mouring the loss of eating....
I would love to hear from anybody that had surgery by Dr. Verseman with the Suburban Surgical Care group in Arlington Heights, IL.
A gal that I met at a support group meeting last weekend told me about this site and I think it's going to be a great tool.
I was also wondering if anybody has used the clothing exchange and how that worked out?
Thanks and have a great weekend.
Congrats!
I didnt have Dr. Verseman I had Dr. Rantis through the same group.
He didnt require a pre-op liquid diet, and I wasnt required to take Recovery Impact, so Im not much help. I had Lap RNY and my Gallbladder taken out and all went well and Im 2 weeks out and down 21 pounds.
Good luck to you!
This site is wonderful, up there in the toolbar, you can click on "Library" and there is ooooodles of info there too.
Hi Kristi,
I am having surgery on Oct. 15th with Dr. Rantis. I have to take the impact recovery too. It is supposed to help with the healing process. I do not have to be on a liquid diet. Hey, I might see you in the hospital!
I feel the same way you do, nervous, excited, and affraid all in one. But I am ready to start a new life.
