Insurance Enrollment Reminder

Hi Everyone, I just wanted to place a reminder to those pre-ops that may be waiting on surgery because of insurance issues. This time of year is usually open insurance enrollment at many jobs and you may want to consider changing your insurance. For me a PPO plan offers greater flexibility because you can go to any doctor you want without referrals that an HMO requires, the downside is the out of pocket cost is slightly greater. But when you receive your enrollment packages, ask questions and determine if the surgery is covered and what the requirements for approval are. This information is usually available on the insurance company's website. Be proactive and Good luck I wish you the best on your journey. Teah

Ahhh - I'm 14 months post-op, but I know people who have had problems when their insurance companies switched during open enrollment. How smart and kind of you to post a reminder! If just one person takes your advice, it could make their journey to "post-oppedness" a little smoother. What a sweet heart you are!
