UNICARE?

Anyone know anything about them?

I am afraid that this won't be good news, because when I asked my surgeon's office about Unicare, she didn't know who that was. PROBABLY NOT A GOOD THING!

Then trying to get 4 more months of supervised diet might be the only way for you to go at this point. Good luck!!! we're here for ya

My experience is that Unicare isn't much better than BCBS. I switched to Unicare after BCBS denied me. Unicare did the same. I was self-pay. I'm switching back to BCBS during open enrollment...that's how much I don't like Unicare even though I still hate BCBS...

I have Unicare HMO. It took 2 days for approval. It took 2 weeks for my PCP to tell me that though..lol. I have not one bit of trouble from them. My PCP gave me a referral for a surgeon, the only one that they use is Joseph Vitello. I saw him, he sent request in, and viola I was approved. Now for some reason, some people have quite a time with BCBS. And others have no trouble at all. I think with an HMO especially, that it depends a great deal on which group does your providing. I am an Advocate patient so they are the ones that approve me and they in turn get thir money from Unicare. So if you have an independent, you woulod deal directly with Unicare, and so it goes. If you have an HMO you may not have much choice in who your doc is. Hope this helps. Marcia ps email me if you want to.
