I am currently 2 1/2 post op and my doctor would like me start birth control pills. I have not talked to my bariatric surgeon to make sure that this is ok yet, but I didn't think that we could take anything that wasn't chewable or liquid. Just curious to see if anyone else out there is on them ; ) Thanks in advance for your help!

I'm on Depo Provera and my surgeon says I can stay on that AFTER surgery too... One shot every 3 months...nice and easy.

Hi there, I don't know what happened, I did reply to you ; ) What a small world, I actually grew up over on Rural & Wood street. I don't have a computer @ home so I am usually checking my e-mail either @ my sister's or I am @ work. I will try to get over there & check it more often, I would like to keep in touch with you ; )

Hi Shelly My doc said birth control is a MUST for two years after surgery for safety. I take lots of pills that aren't chewable or liquid and have been since I was a week out. Best of luck to you!! Cathy

Hi Cathy ~ That is good to know, I was nervous about taking any kind of pills so I have been taking everything that I need to take in the liquid form. Take care & best of luck to you too ; )

I totally understand. I've never been able to take liquid meds though, even as a kiddo I'd ask the docs ..... "do you have a pill for that?" lol I was once told that the openings are approximately the size of a peanut M&M so I kinda try to use that as a gauge. I just got some new calcium and they are truly HORSE pills lol. I'm gonna buy a pill crusher or cutter or somethin tomorrow!
