I am having surgery on Friday and I am confused on what to pack. Also, I know it depends on a lot of variations but generally if I was having a open RNY on Friday when do you think I would get let out of the hospital?

I was told on my surgery that four days with no complications, but I was doing so well and up walking every two hours that I got home in three days...I so wanted to be home...What to pack..chapstick is one make sure you have female products in case you start your period. I am on the depo provera shot and do not have periods but I got one in the hospital after surgery so this is a must. Slippers for sure...someone else suggested tongs to pick stuff up off the floor etc because it is very difficult to bend over. If you use a c-pap machine be sure to pack that as well. Loose fitting clothes to wear home. I'm sure others will let you know other items...

Thanks. That helps. Also do you know, I wasn't required to have a sleep test. I do not know if I have sleep apnea but should I be concerned for surgery?

I think the only things I really used were chapstick and a small personal fan. It ran from the time we got there till we left. I am/was hot natured. Now I get cold easier. Diana
