The last couple days...oh wait....since I could eat...LOL It takes me a good 30-45 minutes to eat. Yes, 2 ozs of broth/whatever in 30-45 minutes. Am I taking too long? I'm thinking I'm probably not filling my pouch since I'm taking so long and that it's kind of grazing. Do I need to pick up the pace? Or am I ok since I'm so new. Just wondering. You know..I have to worry about EVERYTHING. LOL Biscuit Lap Rny 8/31/04 390/???/190 But I do have skinny ankles!

Hey girl. I was told to take no more than 25-30 minutes to eat. Broth is liquid, I was able to get down a good 4 ounces because it goes right through me. I'm sure everyone's different though. I've been worried that i'm eating too much though and I asked my surgeon and he said i'm doing well. I can drink water and almost chug it, I can take big gulps, I thought something was wrong with me but it turns out i'm OK. I would ask your surgeon or one of his nurses. I did find that when I only drank my allotted 2 ounces, that I was SUPER tired, even more than usual, so when I upped my intake I had more energy. *hugs* ~Jenn -28 LAP RNY 8/23/04

The rules about time are for ingesting food. Liquids do not count as food (even protein drinks) as they wash right through you. The more liquids you can get in the better. I'm sure you're not getting too many calories so sip and enjoy!

THANK YOU! That is what I was wondering. I think that is also what was contributing to my dizziness. Thank You SO MUCH! Melissa

most of the rules about how long to take to eat, how long to wait before drinking etc do not apply until you get to solid food stage. Check with your surgeon's group to be sure, but with most liquids and quite a few soft foods they will go right thru your pouch and you won't get that full feeling unless you do drink it very quickly before it gets a chance to slide thru. Of course you are eating very slowly, you poor new tummy is still healing. If you just had ankle surgery you wouldn't be running on it, would you? No, you'd take it slow and easy. hang in there you will adjust to all the new routine and get thru this. Colleen
