We went to a B-Day party (kids) at my DH's friends house....WHITE TRASH!! The house was packed and the middle kid, there are 3 total, asked if his friend could sleep over, the mother said "You know the rule, go outside and talk to your father"....the kid comes back 2 mintes later and says "Dad said he doesn't care and that I should take to you" so the mother start CRYING in front of all of us, goes outside and closes the door behind her, we could still hear her screaming...she comes back in, balling her eyes out saying "Now I have to be the bad guy" and the husband slams the door open, sticks his head in and yells at the top of his lungs telling her to sdo whatever the hell she wants etc etc etc. Tha daughter (8 yr old B-day girl) starts crying and screaming "I hate that you guys do this everyday" I grabbed my kids, husband and LEFT...the guy calls my cell asking why we left...my kids don't need to see that crap, we NEVER fight in front of them and they were totally freaked out. Do people really do this on a regular basis?? Do you fight in front of people?? Why did they have a party if they were at each others throats?? Was it rude for me to leave in the middle of the kids party?? I'm still in shock over the whole thing.

My husband and I constantly argue in front of people. It keeps them busy and gives them something to talk about. If my husband is being an ass...I'll call him on it. I am not going to sit there and take it. But there is a time and place. At a party...we have before but will NOT again. Poor kids.

SCREAMING in front of people??? The windows were shaking!!! My kids are STILL talking about it...we disagree on things in front of them but NOT LIKE THAT!!! The damn kid should not have asked anyway if it's a 'rule'

I grew up in a house like that - alcoholic father always screaming, yelling, slamming doors, verbally abusive to me and my mom - and you did the right thing....as an adult, I would never let my child be in that kind of an environment. Even now, when an adult man raises his voice (lol - even my boss!), my first reaction is to cry. I feel really sorry for the bday girl though - I used to be her.

I think that is really sad!!! They should have at least held off on having their argument until the kids party was over!!! That is so not cool! You were totally right in leaving early. They chose to expose their children to that behavior, you choose not to expose yours. Joy
