Anat and Phys. is going to be really hard. I took the toughest teacher in school 1) because he's thorough and 2) he happened to be in the time slot I was looking for;) But its going to br rough. We had cadaver lab on Wednesday. Lots of the students were holding their noses..lol...Luckily, I have a HORRID sinus thing going on...maybe allergies..who knows...I was afraid it was pneumonia for 2 days..but it seems to be clearing up...and I couldnt smell A THING All in all, it was fascinating. I think, in all honesty, I will donate my body to science when I die. How generous of this guy and his family to give such a thing as his BODY so that dopey anatomy students like me can see in real life, the things that up until now have only been concepts to us!? My CNA class is pretty common sensical. The toughest thing so far is medical abbreviations...tid, bid, qid, wc, npo, that kind of thing, that we have to memorize. Also the roots, suffixes and prefixes...i.e. gastro, ology, hepa, cardio, etc. But luckily (again) I'm pretty good with words and memorization. Its the concepts that totally freak me out! LOL...Yesterday we briefly discussed tapwater vs soapsuds enemas....WHA!?!!?!?!? Some of the questions that get asked in class...and some of the language, speech, attitudes of the students..make you wonder how they've gotten THIS far, ya know!?! Pretty frustrating. Anyway, I've got this head/chest thing going, and I'm pretty prone to pneumonia. If I get sick, I cant attend clinicals..and will fail the class. Usually there are 2 days we can miss..but because my clinical falls on Thu. and we miss Vets Day and Thanksgiving, we cant miss any clinical. I dont know what I'll do if one of the kids gets sick on a Thu. Punt,I guess. I'm very looking forward to working at the Vets Home. They call their residents Members, not residents I'm very excited about it. Now i have to buy a stethoscope and bp cuff. John is now getting sick, and the kids are just getting over it. John's going to Michigan with his brothers and cousins this weekend, too. Just as well..I have lots of homework to do! LOL Sorry for the loooong post...but I dont know when I'll get a chance to say hey again! LOL I'm chained to my A&P book. Hope everyone is doing well....Jenn, glad you're home! Feedle..miss reading your posts...Cathy hope everything gets straightened out with school.I feel your pain...my doc messed up the reporting of my TB test results THREE FRICKING TIMES...and I cant do clinicals without them on record..its straightened out now, but what a PITA!! ..... Joy, hope everything is going well for you! Dont be nervous...we're all here rooting for you! Keep positive A&P thoughts coming my way, please!!! Love ya's all! Kath

Hey girlie, I'm just on a quick lunch break now, wanted to wish you loads of luck with A&P. Don't forget to get plenty of rest and take care of yourself, too! The terms will be easy for ya. I'd have given an arm (LOL) to have seen the cadaver lab, don't think I'll get one here either . I'm leaving right after work today. Haven't read my chapters thoroughly enough so hopefully after I get to my hotel I'll be awake enough to. Had a HORRIBLE stomach ache earlier just worrying about the financial aid stuff. I had to end up paying out of pocket (ok mom's credit card lol) for tuition at the moment because the financial aid office employees are idiots and none knows what the other says soooooooo I'm not even going to put a second thought to it until next week. These are the classes I've got to take this semester. Physiology & Clinical Pathophysiology, Neuroscience in OT, Critical Reasoning in OT, and Kinesiology in OT - I'm going to have to read in my sleep to get through it all LOL! I don't know how you do it girl with a family and everything! Well I have to try and eat something. Talk to ya soon! C-Cathy

A REAL cadaver?? Gross! LOL I guess that's why I've never considered working in the medical field. I'm glad to hear that you are enjoying your classes. Keep up the hard work, and you'll be done in no time. Also, don't worry how long the post is . . . you seem to have cut back a bit in posting, so what you are lacking in quantity, we are expecting in quality. Glad to hear things are going well, and keep us posted.

enjoy and anatomy/physiology are NOT 2 (or is it 3?) words I'd use together in a sentance. the cadaver lab, however was AWESOME!

Kathy- that CNA class is easy as can be. And when you start working as a CNA, you wont really use the abbreviations and suffixes all that much. Maybe more so in a hospital, but very little. I've worked as a CNA since I was 16, took it my junior year in H.S. and I love to do the work. I've been a stay at home mom for a couple of years now, but after I have my surgery and get the ok from my dr, I would LOVE to go back to work as a CNA. the best of luck with your classes, your going to do GREAT!!!!
