I need some advice...
I had RNY Lap I am sixteen week post op (265lb) and on my last visit 8/04 I have lost so far 55lb (210lb) I really don't know if I've lost anymore. Since the Dr. visit. My scale at home is not working right I am planning on purchasing a good one on the web, my scale tell me I weight way more than I did prior to the surgery, but I've seen so many people lost way more than that; I cannot handle the protein shakes, I do eat lot of fish as possible I don't eat and drink at the same time (one hour after). I am getting scared I see that so many people that the surgery did not work for them and I don't want to be one of them, my surgeon said I am above where he had expected me to be, I don't know if I am being paranoid, but this was the biggest decision I ever made and I need this to work for me, and another thing I am finally feeling hungry I cannot eat anymore chickens, rice, bread or eggs... all my favorite...
Please Help.
karen hi
why cant you eat chicken or eggs? your scale is telling you that you weigh more now than pre op? toss that sucker right out the window..just buy a digital one from target..dont spend a lot...they all suck. lol judge your loss by how your clothes are fitting and by your measurments. remember that even if the scale numbers arent moving, you are losing inches. are you drinking tons of water?? i upped mine for 2 days and lost 2 lbs it really works!! are you exercising? you know that your body needs to rest periodically from the rapid loss. your body thinks youre starving, and its trying to keep you alive. thats why protein is so important. your body will start to burn muscle if you dont get enough protein, and muscle damage is painful and hard to fix. you can get enough protein from food, so you wouldnt need shakes, but if your doc tells you differently, then follow his advice. Eggs, lunchmeat(watch the salt), tuna, shrimp..cheeses, pepperoni...all of this is great for your new body
Hope this helps a bit..feel free to e me any time! Youre doing great..keep it up!
I'm not completely sure I understand your entire message, but I did wonder at what you wrote at the end. Are you saying you CAN'T eat those things? I have also been told to avoid bread (though dark toast is fine) and rice, but chicken and eggs? I'm only 3 weeks out, and already I've eaten enough chicken and eggs to grow feathers! (It's all relative, of course. I can only eat 1 egg or 2 oz. of chicken at once.)
In any case, you may want to re-check with your doc on what you can and can't eat.
Karen,
how are you eating your eggs? also...try dark meat chicken..maybe with a little gravy...if its too dry, pouchie doesnt like it. bread=bad..nothing good in there...if you have to, look for the low carb stuff..its better than nothing....when you get further out, you will be able to eat much differently than youre eating now. dont look at this like you can NEVER have something again..just give it time
