Anxiously waiting for consult 8/27/04
Hi all!
My name is Rebecca and I am scheduled to meet with Dr. Frantzides's for my consult on 8/27/04 (wow, I just realized that not only am I 27, and my appt is on the 27th, but it is also a month and 3 days after my b-day). Does anyone know how soon patients are informed of their surgery date (is it really the same day as consult)?
Btw, I work for ENH (Evanston Northwestern Healthcare), and I have the United Healthcare EPO Plus plan. I hear that approvals come pretty quickly wth this plan. Does anyone have any experence with this?
Thanks!
P.s.
When should I start looking for an ?
Thank you for your post. I truly appreciate it immensely. It is awesome to hear that Dr. F. informs people of their surgery date at the time of consult, because I am truly an impatient person by nature.
I had been contemplating surgery for sometime now, but I was reluctant to act on it. I kept telling myself I could reach my weight goal on my own. Well a year later, and 20 pounds, I think it is time for a change. After my friend Kelley had the surgery (almost 2 years ago in October), I wanted to see how things turned out for her. Kelley is doing super, which leads me to why I am here today. . I could not stand another day of putting off things because I feel that I am too fat. I have real self-esteem issues, and I believe this surgery will be the tool to help me regain my life.
I plan to continue posting my progress on AMOS. Thanks again for your post.
Best regards,
Rebecca

CONGRATULATIONS on the start of your journey! I am having surgery a week from today and I got my surgery date the day I went in for my consult, which was 6 weeks ago. Dr. Frantzides made mine a bit early due to insurance concerns that I had, but I bet you have a date within 2 months of your consult. I have UHC PPO and I was approved in under 3 weeks. I am also 27 Sounds like we have alot in common! let me know if you have any questions, i'd be more than happy to help. Keep us updated on your progress!
Good Luck!

Jen ,
Thank you, thank you! I bet you are totally excited! Are you ready (mentally, physically, and in regards to supplies)?
, you are just what I needed... you can be my example!! What have you done to prepare for post-op life? In addition, how many weeks do you plan to be on sick-leave? Due to my current situation at work (I am always so busy, I can never eat or I am rushed) I would like to take 3-4 weeks off. I say this only because I want to develop healthy eating habits before I return to work.
I am so pumped about surgery and I cannot wait until 08/27/04. My friend/co-worker and I are both *hoping* to have surgery. I hope we are schedule around the same time!
What do you like to do for fun, and what are some of your goals once you reach your goal-weight?
I want to be able to buy a pair of GAP jeans in the single digits. In addition, I would like to walk into a "normal sized" clothing store, and not feel like people are going to laugh, because they do not have my size (i.e. Bebe, J. Crew, ABERCROMBIE and FITCH, Lerner, Victoria Secret etc). I hope you are well and thanks for reading!
