BC/BS Illinois

Have been checking into BC/BS Illinois. Have HMO Illinois but may switch to the PPO (I have the option at work). Right now RNY is covered under both plans, but I'm hearing that HMO Illinois is going to stop covering WLS next year. Anyone else hearing the same? Right now they are stalling like crazy and won't tell you what's required. Don't know that the PPO will be any better though. In the few months since I've started checking into WLS, the coverage requirements have changed twice. Am afraid that they'll also be dropping coverage under the PPO next year too. Anyone hear anything? Frustrated, Lady

Lady, There are a number of us on here with BC/BS IL PPO, and though I'm in the "waiting for approval" stage, it seems they are pretty clear about what they require. I have friends that have gone through BC/BS for their surgeries (within the last year) and they said they had no problems. I will let you know as I hear what happens with my claim. Thanks Anne, I've had such a hard time with the HMO and have heard other horror stories on this board regarding the PPO (and requirements that changed without notice) that I'm worrying (maybe more than I need to or should). One of the requirement changes on the PPO happened in April and there were a few people who had problems. One of them never did get approval out of BC/BS. I'd appreciate it if you keep us posted on how it goes for you. (And good luck on everything!!!) I am in the HMO right now, but could switch to the PPO in the fall if it makes more sense, so I'll be paying attention! Thanks again, Lady
