Headcount & choices for D&B
Hello all,
I called Dave and Buster's today and got some info. We basically have two choices. The first is to meet at the dining room. There are a few drawbacks to this. The first is that they don't take reservations so, depending on the size of our group, we may be waiting for a while. Also, being in the middle of the large room, at one long table, it may be difficult to hear and converse. Lastly, though Wednesday night may not be busy, if it is, they will be "moving us along" so that they can use the tables.
Another option is to use one of their semi-private areas. The one I have in mind can accomodate up to 25 and we'd have our own pool table & dart boards. It would be all ours for a set time (7-10pm maybe?), we can each eat & drink whatever we want (same as in the dining room), and we won't have to compete with anyone else in terms of space or noise. The only catch with this option is that there is a minimum of $300 that must be spent by the whole group for the evening. The good news is that this includes all food & drink plus any entertainment (shuffleboard, additional billiards, Power Cards for the arcade) so I think $300 should add up pretty easily.
Anyway, at this point I think we need a fairly solid idea of how many people we are talking about. Please reply with how many are definitely planning on attending, and also add which option seems better to you. I will also try to answer any questions you may have. I think this is going to be a blast!
Wednesdays are generally quieter than Fridays, but I've been there on many a weeknight, and they CAN get pretty raucous. Also, the bar doesn't have much "area" around it . . . either you're sitting at the bar or you're off somewhere else. For 3-4 people, no problem, but it seemed like we were going to have a bunch more than that.
I am SO happy that all these people have decided to come!! and Thanks Richard and Kathy for doing this, it means alot to me! I can't wait to meet you all! $300.00 might be a problem if not enough people show. Keep in mind that I can still drink and eat for a few days so I know i'll spend my share, hehe. We can also hang at the bar area, Wednesdays probably aren't too busy. I'm down for whatever! I can even invite a few friends to make sure we meet a $300.00 quota if thats what we decide. Let me know! *hugs*

12 more days!
I'll be there..either option sounds good to me...what happens if we don't spend the $300? Would they make us wash dishes? I mean, could we say that yes we will spend $300 and then just say "oops, we THOUGHT we'd spens it" or do they want a deposit?
The long table should be okay, I guess it depends on how many people we are...we could rotate chairs! That way we'd speak to everyone. HA
I might bring a sister or my mom...maybe flying solo..all depends on if my kids behave that day..if they do, I'll bring them and mom to watch them...if not, I'll fly solo.
Unfortunately, D&B is not the most trusting of companies. Before they give us the space, they will want a credit card. This way, we WILL be spending at least $300, if you catch my drift. I have no problem using my card, but I'd have to be very sure that all involved understood the committment. For example, if we get 15 people, that would mean that every person, ON AVERAGE, would spend $20. Some might eat/drink/play more and thus lower the cost for others. But if we get 15 people, then $20 each would be the MOST anyone would have to pay.
One thing to consider: the standard amount used on a Power Card, which allows the user to play any of the video/arcade games in the Midway is $10. Get a card, eat a bit, drink a bit, and the $20 is covered already.
Definately count me in! The private area would be great if we have enough people. I'm sure I can find a way to spend my share, even eating like a post-op. Seeing as how it's been years since I played any video games, I'm sure that I'll go through that card pretty fast.
Look forward to seeing you all Wednesday.
