I'M BAAAAAACK!!!!!!!!!
Hello AMOS family!! Boy did I miss you. Ok, here is the straight poop on the past 5 days of my life.
I had knee surgery on my left knee (arthorscopy). Simple procedure right. Not when you have an ass for an anesthesiaologist. (sp) Started off the drs were running 2 hrs late. Then they finally came and got me the dr that did my spinal block apparently had no clue as to what he was doing. First he numbed my back ok but when the was doing the block ( the part where they take the fluid out of your spine) he couldn't find the right spot and hit a nerve. He sent lightening bolt pain through my back and leg. Not once or twice, but 3 times. I finally told him enough when he decided to call in another dr. I told him to put me to sleep. They did the surgery as plannedwithout any other complications. I woke up with the most unbearable headache i have ever had. They gave me the maximum amount of painkiller they could and sent me home. I spent the next 3 days alternating between blinding pain and throwing up. I went to the emergency room sunday night and they said they would probably have to do a blood patch to get rid of the pain. They gave me some pain meds and a shot for nausea and sent me home. I went back to the hospital this morning for the blood patch. They were running only an hour late this time. They came in and numbed my back just like for a block and drew some of my blood and injected it into my back. I am still fighting the nausea and a headache. Fortunately it is no where near the pain of the last few days. They told me that the dr that did my original block got canned. The emeregency room nurse also told me that there have been more that a few of us with spinal headaches the last few weeks. Hopefully by tomorrow I will be back to normal or as close to it as possible.
