Blue Cross Blue Shield Of Illinois PPO
I have BCBSIL and was approved. It took a few months, lots of fighting, and work. I had the 12 months supervised diet, but they also want your weight history from your pcp for the past 5 years also. You need to call customer service, and get the peoples names and extention numbers when you call. If you find a nice person, get their name and extension number and every time you call, ask for that extension. It really works!!!
Keep fighting.....

I wanted to send my well wishes to you all in your quest for approval. I have BCBS of MN PPO. They were reluctant to approve my requests for the Lap Band and I was forced to consider the Lap RNY. They are all going through rule changes, because BCBS IL now approves the band.
I was fortunate to receive an approval within 24 hours. My physician didn't think it could be done but I told him it could. I guess I was nuts or desperate! My employment ended and I was down the wire for this. I know how you all feel and my heart goes out to you.
My best advice is to consider all options, and most of all stay positive. I sincerely believe my attitude and determination made all the difference.
Good luck!
