Hi I'm New
Hello All,
I wanted to step out of the shadows and introduce myself. My name is Dawn. I'm 37, f, in IL and my BMI is 44. I want this surgery because 5 months ago I adopted the best baby girl in the whole wide world. I want to be the kind of mom she deserves to have. I also want to be healthier and feel better for myself.
Just now my biggest worry is that I will have complications that could lead to prolonged illness or death from this surgery. I am a single mom and I have a family of two foster kids and my daughter. I am their only parent and financial support. I can certainly get family and friends to help me through a normal recovery period but I cannot dessert my family for months on end or forever. I'm deciding if I'm willing to take that risk.
Oh well, that's me anyway. Nice to meet you all,
Dawn
DAWN, WELCOME ABOARD!! THERE ARE A BUNCH OF NICE PEOPLE ON THIS BOARD SO YOU HAVE CAME TO THE RIGHT PLACE FOR SUPPORT. I WILL BE 14 MONTHS OUT FROM LAP RNY ON AUG 16TH AND HAVE LOST 150 POUNDS AND I WOULD DO IT AGAIN IN A HEART BEAT. I HAVENT HAD ANY COMPLICATION OTHER THEN MY GALLBLADDER WENT BAD 3 MONTHS TO THE DATE OF MY LAP RNY! BEST OF LUCK ON YOUR JOURNEY

Hello Dawn,
I am on my way to getting my surgery date and I to thought of everything that could go wrong. I have decided to go for it.
If we sat around thinking of what could go wrong with surgery then why don't we think of what could go wrong with everyday living. Like, driving a car, we could die at anytime by just one other driver not paying attention. The risk of a heart attack with our BMI being over 40. I would rather take the risk up front with surgery then wait for a drunk driver to hit my car or a heart attack to get me. I sure hope whatever decision you make you live to be as old as you what to be. And thank you for caring so much for the kids that you became a foster parent and adopted another. You are an
