Anyone that has had Dr. Gerald Cahill

Hi, my name is Annie. I am in Indiana and I go to the St. Margaret Hospital in Hammond, In. They have a Bariatric Center there that I go to and I just found out that my surgeon is going to be Dr. Cahill. I was just wondering about something. Does he require you to lose a certain amount of weight to lose before you have the surgery? Please let me know. Thanks a bunch & Annie

Annie, He did not require me to lose anything before surgery (I weighed 272). I don't know if he has requirements depending on the patient size, but I do recall him saying something that if your over 400 lbs, thier might be an issue with using the CT scan post operatively if something goes wrong. I can honestly say that Dr. Cahill is the BEST surgeon in my opinion. Of course I am biased because he did mine, but if you look him up in OH all of his patients talk highly of him. Dr. Cahill is the absolute BEST in my opinion. I had the lapband surgery performed two months ago. I had a minor complication with my incision but he was on top of it... even asked me to call him while I was away on vacation to check in with him. He did not ask me to lose weight before I had my surgery. He is highly recommended by his patients, is well respected at the LCM hospital and is a no-nonsense, tell it like it is kind of guy. The follow up program and support staff (Tony and the office staff) are excellent as well. I would recommend him to ANYONE and am so glad I made the choice to go with him!

Annie, I weighed close to 350 pounds when I had my surgery and Dr. Cahill did not require me to lose any weight. I can not speak highly enough about Dr. Cahill!! He is one of the best!! My experience with him and his staff has been nothing but pleasant! He also performed a surgery on my mother other than WLS and he did a fabulous job! He is very honest and to the point.
