Upper GI & Ultrasound...

I'm sick. I have this nasty chest cold. It sucks so bad I can't tell you. But what I'm worried about is that Wednesday I have my Upper GI & Ultrasound of my gall bladder. Will they do it if I'm still sick? I hope I can beat it so I'm better but you know...that's in 2 days.

Since I'm no doctor, I can only respond based on what happened during my experiences with these tests. The ultrasound should be no problem at all. All they do is slather some goop on your abdomen and push the ultrasound device against the area trying to get good "pictures". Your cold shouldn't affect it, I wouldn't think. As for the upper GI, I don't think I had that; I had an EGD, and I think that's different. But if I'm not mistaken, an upper GI is simply a bariuim swallow and then an x-ray. Anybody?

Melissa , since there's no real medicine involved in either I would think you should be able to have both done.. I have had a bazillion upper GI's done and I have been ill during some of them so you should be ok... eat garlic!!! that works wonders on chest colds... debby

Thanks Debby! I am feeling a bit better but I can really feel it in my chest. OH Darn..Eat Garlic, I suppose! LMAO If you insist. I have never had an Upper GI before. I'm not TOO worried about it but my DH had one before his surgery and would drink then immediately trying to get the barium down. Ahh...fun times!

See if they have another flavor of barium besides the strawberry that stuff is GROSS!!!!!!!.... My mother is a nurse and the first time I had an up gi she told me to take a couple of correctal after so the barium would get out of my system faster........... DONT DO THAT!!!!!!!!!!! I had explosive bm's and even broke the toilet bowl... not to mention the cramping that stuff causes!!! Later I learned my mother is a cruel cruel woman like nurse Ratchet!! I am now scared due to her cruelity and I told her I can't wait till I get to pick out her nursing home... LOL Its a piece of cake you just stand on a table that will recline you back you take a couple big mouth fulls ACKY then swallow them they might not even require you to swallow a whole lot. My last upper GI i was rolling around on the table to get the right angle I felt like Madonna doing "like a virgin" LOL
