Give me as much advice as possible, information is power!!! I was wondering and I feel so stupid about this. I was reading someone's profile and she had to delay surgery because of low blood iron levels because of lost blood from irregular cycles. I too have this problem, although my cycles are under control, I haven't been taking my iron pills as I should. My pre-op appointments are on July 13, I've started back taking the pills today, but I'm worried that my iron may be too low, any ideas on how to increase iron levels?

YEAH!!!!! I am so happy for you. It was well worth the wait, right?? On the days leading up to surgery make sure you keep yourself very hydrated!!! The day before surgery I made the mistake of not drinking my water and on the day of surgery I was so thirsty it was ridiculous. I though abou****er only after I put my gown on and I asked the nurse if I could have some water and she laughed and replied nope! All I had after that was about 10cc of water to wash some pills down with. When you wake up from surgery you will be so thirsty and you will not be abe to drink any fluids for at least 24 hours or until you have your swallow test. My tongue was all white and pasty. The nurses came around to wipe your lips and inside your mouth with a wet towel which helps a little. I know you have heard this a million times, but walk, walk, walk. It was hard to walk after surgery because of pain. Everyone experiences different levels of pain, but it was hard for me to walk. I was told by the surgeon that it was important to walk and why, but it is because of this site drumming it into my head that it soooo important that I pushed myself to get out of bed even when I thought it was impossible. Anyway Teah, I will email you again with more info. Congrats again on your date and I will keep you in my prayers. Tori
