Is there anyone here who has actually been approved through ILPA? I am almost ready to submit my info and was wondering if anyone had any suggestions for additional info to add. Let me know! Thanks Melissa

I emailed IDPA not too long ago with almost the same question, and this was their respone: "Any information submitted regarding a prior approval request is usually helpful. However, our Medical Consultants make their determinations based on the medical information submitted by the provider of the service, and the physician involved with the case. If you want to send a personal letter, it would be best if it can be included with the other information submitted by your physician. If this is not possible, you can mail your letter to IDPA Prior Approval Unit, P.O. Box 19124,201 S. Grand Ave., East, Springfield, IL, 62763 or you can fax it to 217-542-0099 and be sure to include a cover letter directing it to the Home Care area. Kim Knox, Supervisor Prior Approval Unit" Also, my surgeons office said that they never had a problem with IDPA approving surgery. So, as long as your surgeon says ya need it, and you meet the minimum requirments, It "should" be easy! I hope! lol, I am still waiting for all my tests to be reviewed, so I'm not there yet Hope this helped! Amanda

What are the "minimum requirements"? Is there a list somewhere or is it case sensitive? Also, for the letter TO the insurance...did you/would you use the form letter here on OH? Thanks so much! I am getting a bit more confident now.

Oh! I just mean 40+bmi and all that, which isn't too hard to meet now is it? Also, I DID have that letter written out to my problems and such, and I WAS going to submit it to them, but then someone had a good idea....don't! Save that as a back up "just in case" you get denied. In that case you'll have *something* to give to them that they didn't originally have, so you can go in with some more aimo. Know what I mean? So I'm saving my letter for that possibility. I don't want to go after them with everything I have, get denied, and then have nothing to appeal with....Just my ideas! Amanda
