HMMMMMM??? where are you guys getting all this info about BTC being so bad??? ...I have done my research too and overall I have heard nothing but good things about them. The only thing that took a long time in my case was my new pcp took 3 weeks to type up a letter recommending me for the surgery and I had already put it all together for them all he had to do was have one of his secretaries type it up and him sign it. Julie my insurance co-ordinator was very quick on getting everything out. Once she got my file she sent the paper work to my insurance requesting approval and two days later she called to tell me they wanted an psych eval done....once all that was done and the letters were ready to send off to my insurance she sent them the same day I faxed everything to her and she called me two weeks later to tell me I was APPROVED!! So far my experience has been wonderful with BTC...I even got a personal call from Dr. Vaughn at home when he noticed I was getting confused about which procedure to do (they read the posts here) He was very kind and informative and not ONCE did he try to talk me into anything just because they only do open. He gave me the pros and cons of ALL the procedures....and THERE ARE pros and cons to ALL of them...don't let people tell you that lap or lap band is the only way to go...you have to decide for yourself based on your comfort level with your surgeon and the aftercare the hospital provides. I'm sorry you feel that way about BTC. My experience so far has been nothing but good and I'm scheduling my surgery on Monday! Good luck to you...I hope you find a place that you feel comfortable with! Konni

Konni, I was going to go through BTC last year but cancelled on them because I wanted to give it another try, also I was not getting return calls from my coordinator and had that "cattle" feeling of not getting any individualized attention. I am aware that they just started doing LAP on the "smaller" patients and was told LAP is not for me because of my size. I since got another opinion and am thrilled that I won't have to have a foot long scar down the front of my tummy, or be out of work for 4 to 6 weeks. It's nothing personal against Dr. Boe, he's a great surgeon. BTC is just not the place for me. If you only knew how many emails I received stating the same things ( they didnt post for fear of getting flamed ) i am happy with my decision and am happy for you that everything turned out in your favor. I wish you luck and continued success ~Jenn
