Has anyone use Dr Guske or Dr Horgan?

I used Dr. Horgan...he was great! Knowledgeable, an FDA trial surgeon, etc. Feel free to ask me anything. 292/242/< 199

Can you tell me more about the lap band procedure?

I also would like to have info on lap banding,I heard last night about in a place in Belvedere,Ill where they only do gastric surgery and I'm wondering if they would also do the banding I am in the process of checking on that today. You can go to it by www.barixclinics.com/surgery/bmi the lady I talked to had gastric in Oct. and lives in Salem,Ill She said she preferdit over other places.

Ialso would like info on lap band docs but my concern is one drs. office told me that the band would grow to you like a band around a tree if you have ever seen something that was imbedded in a tree then I got to thinking about that.

My suggestion is to talk to docs who do BOTH surgeries and get the pros and cons. Try www.lapbandcenter.com for starters. Also, check out the lapband forum on here. The band does not imbed around you like something imbedded around a tree. Yes, some tissue grows around it (as does anything that is implanted in the body), but that is what helps keep the band properly placed. It's not like you can lift your shirt and see anything "imbedded" around you

Dr Guske is part of the group in Elk Grove Village, Suburban Surgical Care Specialists and also part of New Self Bariatrics. Dr Rantis from that group did my husband's WLS, open RNY. They also do lap band in this group. Personally, I have been a patient of Kane Jr for more than a decade and my personal opinion of the group is that they are getting too big for their britches. Years ago I could have called him with a problem and he would have called me back, 2 years ago I tried to contact him 4 times and he never returned my calls. They are cold and indifferent. And I am not saying that all on my own, a support group that I am involved in also has had some negative experiences with them. There are many doctors in the Chgo area that do lap band if this is the way you want to go. The Wish Center where I had my open RNY is doing lap band now, they are in Downers Grove. Do a search in the find a doc area for other doctors that do lap band. Good luck.

my brother had lapband surgery by dr. horgan. he was wonderful. very caring, knowledgable. he was in the fda trials and now teaches the procedure to other surgeons and residents at univ of illinois. had i not found a surgeon close to my home, i'd have gone to dr horgan.
