HELP!!!!! WITH INSURANCE

Hey everyone! My name is Debbie, I'm from Ala. and in need of some help. My husband works for Georgia Pacific and we have insurance with BCBS of Ill. I meet the critria but they have denied me saying that I do not meet the medical critria, so I want to appeal and am not sure how to go about doing this. I sent them everything I have. I do know for a fact that they do pay for surgery. Just don't know what else to do. Please help a Bama girl. Thanks and God Bless, Debbie

Hi Debbie. I was denied the other day too...and I too ahve sent them everything I have (including the info on almost 2 years of medically supervised stuff) and they say it is NOT enough....I am trying to gather stuff for my appeal... Good luck! Gilly

are they denying wls in general or a specific surgery? is it HMO or PPO? keep fighting cause they do cover both RNY and Lapband surgeries. you just have to fighy harder. bug the hell out of them on the phone and send more letters from you and your primary care physician. they do come around. i've had several people in our office that got approved but the docs i work for a very big advocates for weight loss surgery for their patients. keep trying.

First off, thank you Gilly and Linda for replying. It means alot to me. First I was angry, then upset, then depressed and after your replys and others I am fighting again. I did find out that my PCP, even though he thinks this is the best thing for me and wrote a letter, he did not send all of the records to the insurance. So I am now in the process of getting them sent. I also had to go to my Orthopedic doctor last week with continued problems and he also has wrote a letter to insurance stated that I need to have this surgery. I hope to mail all this off next week.
