Tuesday Roll Call

Hello ILLINOIS!

I guess I have been MIA lately.  sorry about that.

The Sunday before Memorial Day, we had an "issue" with David that kind of threw me.  He turned 21 on the 15th.  Every year, he goes to the "Wing Ding" concert in Rockford.  Long story shorter......the police and paramedics called Amber at about 2:45 in the afternoon saying that someone needed to pick David up as he was SO intoxicated.  The first call was from the police saying that they would take him to jail if no one could pick him up.  The second was from the paramedics hinting that he may need medical attention.  Amber went to get him and brought him to me.  It was hard for me to see him in such shape and the outcome of our trip was in question.  I got him home and into bed and he slept mostly until it was time to leave on Monday.  It seems that he had heat exhaustion along with intoxication.

We left at 4:30 am on Memorial Day for a drive to New Orleans.  David, Todd, Liv and I in my car.  Interesting.  The drive down was long but not bad as David slept most of it.  We finally arrived at our hotel about 9:00 pm, and made it over to Decatur St. for dinner.  Thank God that Liv was with us as the boys were not much fun.  We got our aunt's ashes spread on Tuesday, went to the Aquarium of the Americas and other stops on Wednesday.  We stopped at a FANTASTIC barbeque place before we left on Thursday and stopped halfway for the night.  We arrived home about 3:00 pm last Friday.

I had a harder time on this trip than I expected.  New Orleans in not really associated with drinking in my mind, but the negativity and cussing from David along with Todd's indifference made it a challenge.  I did not have to drink over any of it and got to meetings as soon as I returned.  I have a therapist appointment today and am almost back to my pre-trip spiritual self.  It is a lesson though on how easy it is to lose sight of my sobriety.

Liv and I went to see, "Blended" last night and it was cute.  I read, "The Fault in Our Stars" on the trip and we are going to see that on Friday.  It is good to have a daughter that works at the theater!

Also.....I don't know if I told you, but she has received a small bit over $2,000.00 in scholarships so far!  She came away from awards night with many!

Time to jump in the shower, but I wanted to touch base with you all!

I hope you all have a great day!

Good Morning Dawn and Everyone.

I stopped by a while ago, but was on my way to Walmart and The $ Store.

I am so sorry that you had such a rocky start to your trip. It is to bad David can't see what it does to him and the family in general, when he is like that. But, hehas to handle his own demons, as much as you would love him to be that sweet kid he always was.

I am always glad when someone is with us on long trips. Hubert never says anything when he is driving, he keeps the window open ( so he can't hear) and a cigar in his mouth. And the radio is not on loud enough for me to hear it, so I end up on my Ipad, then he gets upset because my head is buried in a book. Men really are from another planet!

But, I am glad you got to do what you went there for.  Now it is time for you to get back to your healing. You are doing so great!

That $2000 that Liv got will certainly help her. It is not long before she starts on her new adventure.

Hubert and I have a couple of appointments this afternoon when he gets home. Other then that, nothing is happening.

Have a great day,

Hugs,

Lisa

Hi friends,

I haven't been posting a lot either because I do the same thing each day--go to the store and wait for this delivery or that workman to show up! ComEd lost our application and turned off the electricity Friday. They told me it would take two weeks to turn on. Well I called another person Monday and she was very nice and got it turned on today! The owner came by and put an accoustical ceiling in the classroom which will be great and he fixed some lights which needed changing. Then a yarn rep came and we bought more. I think we've got what we need to start. Now to get it all checked in and price tagged.

This weekend we are going to Minneapolis with Madison Knitters Guild on a yarn safari. 5 stores and overnight. There are ten of us friends going on a bus of 60. What a riot! We'll get lots of ideas and not buy yarn ( hopefully, but perhaps).

Thats about all I know. I'm really tired tonight but enjoying Andrea Bocelli on WTTW.

Dawn, so proud of you!

Connie

It sounds like many of us are dealing with a lot lately................

Dawn I am sorry you had to deal with such calamity before your trip. You did awesome.

Crystal, I have to tell you, I am not surprised Chris contacted you. It was cowardly to email you after the way he treated you in the end, but perhaps it was the best way for you. In an e-mail you have more control of your emotions and response.

Connie, it sounds like you have a check list to get this store up and running and it sounds like it is going to be wonderful.

Lisa, enjoy these lazy days of being off. I know it is something you enjoy.

Nancy I hope you are doing well.

Carla, are you back from Denver yet?

I watched the babies til late last night. My daughter worked and my son in law is out of town working til Thursday. I also went to the doctor and have an eye infection and an outer ear infection.....feeling like a wet noodle who only wants to eat noodles aka as carbs.

Hugs,

Sharon
