Wednesday Roll Call

Hello everyone

I worked out yesterday for the first time in close to two months and although I was being a bit of a slacker getting my butt going at first....I have to say afterwards it felt great!!!  Ahhh...yes this is what I miss.  I hate working out....absolutely loathe it.  BUT the feeling afterward is what keeps me going back.  I feel so great.

Now for my confession.  When I went to the doctor the other day I discovered that I gained 8 lbs.  I know it's not a lot but it's a gain and needs to be addressed. See in my old life when I would gain weight I would just shrug it off and not care or act like it would be somethign I worry about later.  Well not any more!!!!  This overtime and not working out has showed me two things.  One I tend to snack too much when I stay late at work ( i was honest and realized I am always grabbing a Werthers or a mint or those lafy tafy...ya those can add up if you suck on a dozen or more of those!!!).  And obviously....sadly I am one of those people that need some kind of activity to maintain my weight.  So I need to either start my workouts or my daily lunch stair running again (I have been working through lunch).  For now I am doing both since there is no overtime.  I need to get this extra weight off me.  Then get back to losing!!!  I have proved I cannot balance weight loss or maintenance and overtime(60-70+ hours).  Maybe some can and I applaud them, but I have to realize my limitations.

That ends the confessional portion of our program.

Today I am working and then I have some errands to run then I have to workout.  What are you all up to?

Well time to get ready...see you all later.  Bye

Crystal, have you thought about working out at your desk?  I know it's not the same thing,  but get a set of dumbbells and take 5-10 minutes every couple of hours to do some exercises.  There are resources online with ones you can do.  It's not the same as a full workout, but at least it's some movement and exercise.  Every little bit helps.

I had my appointment this morning.  It went great!!  We talked a long time, and she took baseline measurements, and did blood tests.  My weight is 375 and my BMI is 59.98.  She has given her green light for the surgery.  I see the dietitian on April 9 and the psychologist on May 12.  She said I am going on the right direction and said kudos to that.  So until the next appointment, I am to keep doing what I'm doing and work on losing more weight.  It sucks that I have more waiting to do, but now we are are at least moving forward.

I have thought about desk exercises and I really don't care what others will think I am doing...they already think I'm a dork...in a good way.  I am actually quite active at work....I average 5000 steps a day without working out or running errands (I have a Fitbit if you're wondering how I know that).  But I still wouldn't mind doing more activity.  I am going to look that up.  Thanks for the input.

Hello,

I was late for work this morning, due to  the snow. Streator only got a dusting, but LaSalle, where I worked today, got 5+inches.

Lisa, your journey is going the way it is suppose to. You will get there.

Crystal, I have slacked off to. I think it is the winter. I am trying to remember to exercise every day, but some days I just don't.

Nothing else is happening,

Hugs,

Lisa

Hi folks,

I slid around a corner today and into a snow bank. Fortunately I was able to back up and get on my way! Otherwise, things are just going along. I've been watching the gay marriage thing as we have an official civil union and all we have to do is get the paper changed, but I'd guess since the CU is in Winnebago county that the changed form needs to be also. The clerk here is holding out for June 1st. Kay and I both turn 70 this year and we'd like to have one big event--still can't set a date unless we plan after June 1. Oh well. More time to plan!

have a good evening,

Connie

I have a project for your knitting friends if any of you are interested.  I found this on an animal site that I visit. It is for a Penguin foundation in Phillips Island Australia.  The link is http://penguinfoundation.org.au/about-the-penguin-foundation/wildlife-rehabilitation/   They are looking for volunteers to make sweaters to use with penguins who get caught in oil spills.  These help protect them and keep them warm after being exposed to oil and prevent them from ingesting oil when they preen themselves.  I thought there might be a few wild life lovers in your group.  Just an idea if you have people looking for things to knit.

Yep, I gained when I started this job.............I have now lost 9 lbs but I still have 11 to go before I will be my old self. But something interesting. Losing lots of inches w/o working out. I was told by someone at Fat to Skinny that happens with strict atkins.

Yesterday I moved boxes all day and no pain the next day. I guess I must still have muscles :)
