My daughter was in college when I made the decision to have WLS and she was all for it and has been my biggest cheerleader and supporter since.  She was all for me losing weight and making a healthy life style change.  I'm not sure how old your kids are but I would empisize how important it is for you to be a healthier person.

Hi Lisa!

My kis were 10 and 13 and I told them that I was having this operation for my health.  They are very supportive and tease me about my "tiny tummy" to this day.

Tell someone that you love them!

Hello Peeps,

I have not heard of hormone dumping, but I know when I was losing large amounts of weight quickly I started getting my period! I had not had a period in awhile because I am post-menapause.  I went to the doctor and was told I was fine, but when I went on OH and went in the rooms, I learned alot about how when our bodies are dumping that much weight that fast, since estrogen is stored in our fat it can cause women to get periods or to not stop bleeding or all kinds of hormonal changes, like hot flashes.

I had a very productive day working from home yesterday. I am amazed how much more I get done instead of going in. I also get my laundry and cooking done as well.

Crystal, I hope the meeting this morning brought a relief from the stress you are experiencing.

I went back and forth about telling family about my surgery almost 2 years ago. It felt like it was something special for me, and I did not want to share it with anyone. I ultimately told my daughter who was 34 and married and she cheered me on. My daughter has never had weight issues, so I think she was so happy that I finally had a way to "fix" things.

I told my close family like my brother, after the surgery and when he asked me if I was losing weight. I have never decieved anyone, but I have been private when people ask me questions I find invasive.

I never told anyone at my former job, but they found out and it spread like wild-fire. I worked where I had surgery and there are no secrets for employees in hospitals when you are inpatient. Someone will know you who knows someone else...etc. I worked with some very nasty people at my last job and was sad when I started getting comments.

I checked again and Ach n Lous does open at 12:00p on Sunday. I hope the weather cooperates.

Today is my Friday so I am looking forward to 5p.

Hugs!

Sharon
