Monday Roll Call
Good morning,
Boy is it cold today! I was surprised when I went out to get the paper. I guess I was fooled by the sun. LOL The Superbowl yesterday was boring after the first quarter when it became clear Seattle was the only team playing. I knit instead and the picture is up on Facebook. Today I have a few phone calls to make and that's about it. Did laundry yesterday during the game(?) and the house is already picked up, so no tasks left to do. I got a card frommy new insurance which covers a gym membership so I think I'll check that out. That's the only way I'm going to do exercise.
Have a good day!
Connie

Hi Connie and Friends,
It cannot be good when staff starts asking if we can start cancelling patients in the afternoon on Tuesday so they can leave early ahead of the next big snow storm. They also want to close on Wednesday. Is it going to be that bad???????????
The Super Bowl put me to sleep so I was in bed by 8p! I guess I needed it. Today I am feeling a little loopy from all that sleep. I am reading a great book called Fat to Skinny Fast and Easy by Doug Varrieur. I know there is not much anyone can tell me that I do not already know about weight loss, but I need something to motivate me and sometimes these types of books do. The best part is all the before and after pics of people my age and older.
The sun is streaming into my office from the sky lights and it is so bright I didn’t even turn on my office lights. The natural light is so welcoming.
Carla and I have not figured out where we are meeting yet. I think since we got a recommendation from Crystal for Och-n Lou’s that may be the place to go. I have never been there. But have heard it’s good.
Here are links for restaurants just north of the mall in Batavia:
Here is a link for just south in Aurora:
It’s not a perfect list since on Yelp, but it gives people an idea. The mall is on I-88 and the Farnsworth Exit.
Here is also a link for the Malls:

Connie, my 9-year old daughter, C, said that she was rooting for the Seahawks (we don't usually watch any sports). When I asked her why, she said it was because she liked the color blue!! I love her logic.
Sharon, the last I heard was that the Chicago area was in the 4-6 inch range, but mid-state was higher. Since I don't know where you are located... :-)
The girls and I made stew yesterday in the crock pot and it was AWESOME!! I find that evertime I eat something now, I wonder to myself if I will be able to eat it post-surgery. Were you like that before you had the surgery?? I'm hoping that once all my appointments start, that my thought process will change. I'm so impatient though, April seems so far off, and that is when my first appointment is. Then there are all the other appointments to follow.
I hope everyone has a wonderful and blessed Monday!
Yes, I do recall wondering what I would not be able to eat post surgery. To date the things that just arent good are: pork, pasteurized dairy, rice, noodles. Noodles are the worst! Sadly I can eat sweets (darn). I miss the post surgery feeling of not wanting sweets. That lasted about 6 months. Then I ate ice cream. Boy big mistake. I woke the carb monster up! Hugs and blessings back. Sharon
Everyone's surgeon program is different. With that being said I was told that I could eat anything I could tolerate when released to eat all foods. I eat the protein first, veggies or fruit next and then if I have room some carbs. My husband and I (both RNY 10+ yrs out) have difficulty with white rice and pasta so we eat it sparingly. We switched to wild rice mix (bulk from Whole Foods) or red quinoa. I cook either of them in broth.

It is the blowing and drifting snow that I think your staff is worried about. Over all it is only supposed to be about 2-4 but the windchill and drifting is supposed to be bad on Wednesday. Watch Tom Skilling for the most accurate forecast because he will not exaggerate. Also check weather.gov as this is NOAH weather and they are really accurate also. You can put in city/state locations or zip codes for regions closer to where one lives.

Good Evening,
-15 this morning was enough for me to reconsider why I had stayed in Illinois all those years ago.
Sharon, just make a decision and let us know.
Connie, do you have Humana, I know they have the Silver Sneakers program.
Stew was my idea yesterday too, but I made ham.
Omlets for tonight.
I am in town tomorrow, but Wed I will be drivingto work about 35 miles.
Hugs to all,
