Saturday Roll Call
'Twas drippy yesterday, yucky. We are off to Willow a little later on this early afternoon to serve in the stage Green Room. Just hoping that the roads have enough treatment on them so they do not freeze with the dropping temps later this evening.
I have been exhausted with training a new clerk. She fortunately is a quick study and is eager to learn. The other PT clerk I work with are tag teaming with the training so it takes a lot of the work load off of my shoulders.
A little while ago I was looking at the calendar for the Schaumburg Convention Center and noticed that there will be an Gluten and Allergen Free Expo there the week-end of Apr 12-13. http://gfafexpo.com/locations/chicago/#when-where Crystal - I thought that you would be interested in the event.
We have made plans to stay in the Loop over Valentine's week-end to go see The Phantom of the Opera. We also have an invitation for a backstage tour of the Lyric Opera the day after. We are looking forward to both events.
What is happening in your neck of IL?

Good Morning,
My big weekend plans include cleaning up the house, changing the bed, and doing laundry. The typical day when I am home,
We have no other plans for this weekend.
Christine, you sound as busy as ever.
Kim, you had a night from H getting home last night. Did you ever find out what the holdup was?
Sharon, did you have any problems getting home? How about you Crystal?
I think it is going to be another dreary day. Melting snow and all.
Have fun on this sloppy day,
Hugs,
Good morning,
This is the first time in 28 years that we haven't been able to get out of our driveway! Kay says the salt truck is going down the lane so we may be able to get out in a bit. Our lane looks like an ice rink! I came home about 3 yesterday and it was very slippery. One area near Belvidere had 150 cars off the road! I was used to this in southern IL but not so much here.
Id like to go out later if the roads become safer. Otherwise I guess I'll knit here--shocked, aren't you? LOL
be safe today,
Connie

Our town's streets still had a thick layer of snow on it so when it started melting with the warmer temp and refroze it also was a skating rink. The village came out yesterday and salted the whole street (s). Salting of the whole street is not the norm as our PW only does the intersections due to the cost for salt.

Connie, on a side note - have you ever knit with ladder trellis yarn - sometimes called ribbon yarn? I use this yarn for making my crochet necklaces, some with glass or metal pendants and some without. The reason I am asking is that there are some patterns out there for knitting "necklace scarves" Here is a link (hopefully it works) of a knit scarf. http://www.sharonsyarns.com/servlet/the-1006/Free-Pattern-for-LONG/Detail Here also is what the yarn looks like. I cannot get the yarn in yarn shops, only on line. I did find it in one store in Downers Grove but that is not the norm. http://www.sharonsyarns.com/servlet/the-699/Dazzle-Ladder-Yarn-%23/Detail The yarn looks like little ladders. Hopefully the picture with the last link shows the detail of the yarn.
It is easy for me to use to crochet with because I only make long chains (5 or 6 lengths depending on the necklace) to create the necklace.
ps - I did learn how to knit in the past. Just your basic "practice" type of knitting. Very basic, knit or purl, that is it. Back and forth on the needles. I never learned how to read a pattern. I however can read a crochet pattern.
