Saturday Roll Call

Bitter winds and temps down to the single digits=pre Thanksgiving in the Dells. The news casters have been saying this is January weather. Seen a lot of bucks gutted in the back of PUs and on their way to the meat processors. I have seen a lot of resale shops and have scored 11 shirts to wear with dress slacks or jeans. YEAH, love not wearing a uniform anymore. All for less than 20 bucks. Another resale shop today in Adams and then onto my niece and nephew's lake house near Castle Rock and the Petenwell damn/flowage. We also have driven to Reedsburg and Baraboo. They are such neat "homey" towns with real downtown business areas despite the fact that there are Wally Worlds near by. Have put in at least 3-5 miles a day on the Fitbit. It is quiet up here and that is odd because this traditionally is a busy time for the 3 large indoor water park hotels. This economy stinks.

Breakfast time is coming up

HI Christine and Friends,

Christine it's like old times, waking up and seeing you start the dialog!

I love 2nd hand stores. I am hooked on GW. Yep, the economy isn't great, but it has made us humans learn to save money, not spend like crazy, and  go back to using 2nd hand stores to obtain reusable items so less go into the landfills. More folks are enjoying family stay-cations. in some ways, we have gotten better thru these difficult times. In the old days, I recall wanting a LV purse for 2 grand. Every time I saw one, I coveted it. Now I look back and wonder where my head was? I buy my purses at GW now for 6.99 and love them as much. It's too bad about the water parks tho. I am sure its being empty, effects local people and their economy. Sad.

I am happy to be home this morning. Yesterday we did some volunteer work and our boy stayed in Chicago with all his cousins that are in town until today. Later we will go back to the city to say our goodbyes.

I did not shop at all this weekend. I drove past Walmart on Thursday night and there were tons of people.

Katie LOVED her sewing machine. I bought it at a local sewing store and got her some lessons as well. I love local business and prefer to buy things there if I am not shopping on-line.

My cats have been extremely lovey-dovey and want to cuddle all the time. I think they miss me being at work all day.

What is everyone doing today. I think most are chillin'. I have to start planning decorating, and getting a tree. Let the next mad dash begin........next weekend. HAHAHAHAHAHHA

Hugs,

Sharon

Good morning,

People re shopping in St. Louis. We went to a yarn store and a local grocery where they have exotic things we like and a local bookstore. We also visited my mom for a while too. Today we hit another yarn store, then tonight is the party for my cousin.

i hope everyone is enjoying the time off. Take care,

Connie

Hey Connie,

Enjoy your time with the fam.

I have a knitters questions; if someone was going to knit me a sweater with black yarn and I wanted it to be heavy, a turtle neck, long and soft that would not shrink. What kind of yarn would I ask them to use? Thanks so much dear one. Hugs, Sharon

Are you willing to wa**** by hand? Cascade Eco Duo or Highland Duo would be lovely and soft as would Alpaca Lana D'oro. If it has to be washable, you will sacrifice some of the softness or the quality because a washable wool is less soft and an acrylic is far less quality. Bedrock Vintage is the best washable yarn I'm aware of. I made a sweater for my son out of it because I knew he wouldn't do a hand wa**** also comes in chunky weight which is heavy. You are lucky to have a friend knit you a sweater!

Jimmybeanswool.com has both Vintage and Vintage chunky on their website. I buy most of my yarn there. It comes in 3 days and shipping is free or minimal. Don't buy yarn from a big box store like Hobby lobby--it is terrible quality! If you want me to find a local yarn store for you tell me your zip code.

Enjoy!

Connie

Hello everyone

Today we are going into Chicago.  We going to do some shopping and but the main attraction is the Museum of Science of Industry...we are taking the boys there.  Yep that's our day.

I always do my Black Friday shopping online.  It would take a lot for me to brave the stores.  All that craziness is not for me.  Plus all my shopping is done.  Chris has some left...but mine is done.

Well I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving.  Everyone welcomed Chris with open arms (considering it's my ex-laws).  I have such a wonderful family.  But like Chris said...they would excepting to anyone I care about if they loved me, and obviously they do.  He's right.  I'm a lucky girl.

Time to go and have fun....have a spectacular day all...see ya later.
