Recently moved

Hi all. My family recently moved from the Oak Park area to Bolingbrook/Naperville area. My surgeon's office, and support groups, are entirely too far away for me to manage them on any regular basis, but I feel like I need them. Does anyone have any suggestions for a local support group? Thanks for any suggestions,

Hi Ellen!

I am from the northwestern part of the state, so I can't help with specific support groups in your area.  I CAN however, recommend that you come here, introduce yourself and let us help support you.  If you have been lurking and reading our posts, you can see that we have formed real friendships and discuss our whole lives, relating to surgery or not.  We have all been through similar experiences.

We share our lives on the daily "Roll Call", but if you have specific questions, it is better to post it under its own subject to get the most specific answers.

Please check us out and hang with us.  Hopefully, there is someone in your area that knows of support groups.

We moved from Oak Park to Lockport 8 years ago. My daughter lives in Bolingbrook/Naperville area so I am there every week . I miss Oak Park, but I dont miss the parking drama.

There is a support group at Adventist in Bolingbrook:

My doctor has a support class at Silver Cross. You would take I355 South to Rte 6 (5 miles) and the hospital is right at the exit. My doc, Dr. Joyce is awesome. His associate is also awesome.

Ellen, this is an amazing group for support. We have become friends and share a lot. It is better than any support system I have ever had anywhere. These folk on this forum, have years of knowledge combined regarding bariatric surgery and all that is related to it.

You might want to consider Life Weigh Bariatrics in Downers. They are on Finley just north of Butterfield (2nd light turn right). http://www.lifeweighbariatrics.com/index.html We have a very active support group with the doctors and staff involved at one or all of them.
