Tuesday Roll Call
Hello everyone
Well I made the German Chocolate cake yesterday. I never made such a complicated recipe before. I swear it was like a chemistry experiment. And there were three parts...the cake, the filling, and the frosting. So it took me almost all night of mixing and measuring. Then this morning I woke up and put the filling in and assembled the cake and frosted it. Then put it back in the fridge. Now I can only hope it turned out good. God I hope so. I bought these candles that go on top that say Happy 40th Birthday!!!
I will be taking him to The Beer Market tonight (he switched his hours so he gets off today at 5pm!!!). Then afterward we are going back to my place for cake and movie. Its a low key event.
So other than work that's my day...what are you up to???
Well it's a beautiful day for a walk at lunch...you should get out today too. See you all later. Bye
Good morning Crystal and the rest of Illinois!
I am sure Chris will love the cake. Some recipes can be very challenging, but they are usually worth the extra effort. Wish him a Happy Birthday from me.
Nancy----sorry about your cousin. I am thinking of you and your family.
Connie----WAY TO GO!!!!! Proud of you for walking with the Doc. Wish I could of made it.
Jason----I hope all went well at your medical appointments.
Everyone else.....you are in my thoughts too....and where is Randy?
Today, I am making pork chops and Cuban black beans. I started by soaking the beans last night. I may run a couple of errands also.
Guess I will get on it.......have a splendid day!
Good afternoon.

Hi Crystal and all My Peeps,
Well God was gracious and I FINALLY got a job! To say I am happy is a true understatement. I finally got a call and offer for that job I interviewed for in early September working for those surgeons. I start in November. Doing the happy dance.
Crystal I am sure that cake is delish. Funny, calling it a german chocolate cake when in fact it is American and got it's name from the dude who developed dark baking chocolate by the name of Sam German. Black Forest cake is definitely German and is another hard cake to make.
Dawn, pork chops and black beans sounds yummy. All I can think of is platanos to have with that. It takes me back to my stays in Puerto Rico. That kind of food is my favorite.
Nancy, sorry to hear about your cousin. My prayers are with your family.
Connie, it sounds like you are back to your old self. Yes!!!!!
Jason, surgery on 10/24 will be here before you know it. I will be praying for your perfect healing.
Kim, it is coming up on my mom's passing soon and I know what you mean about it being hard sometimes. Know I am praying for your peace.
Lisa, hope you are doing great.
Randy, I MISS YOU. Hugs my dear one.
Sharon
Good afternoon.
That's great news. It's part"wh"y time because Sharon got a job, woo-hoo! Someone is watching over you. Time to do a happy dance.
Yup. Thank you. The name of the palnned procedure(s) is:

Have a great day Sharon.

Congrats on the job. I'm so happy for u. I think eating might be easier for you now. At least it is for me. When I'm home alone with food it's a temptation. Being at work is easier for me. But working out will be harder now. Trying to find time. But you do it.

Good afternoon!
I was really proud of myself for trying the "Walk with a doc" even though it was an uneven path and I had to climb a flight of uneven steps. By then I was totally out of breath and my knee was killing me. The steps were really too high for my ability. Almost all the walkers were Dr. Garren's patients and so I wasn't even embarrassed because they've all been in the same condition in the past. Dr. Garren even posted on FB that he "liked" the fact that I tried the walk. I need to keep walking if I could figure out how to do it with a sore knee.
Today I went to spinning (wool) and then started an eggplant parmesan for dinner. We have leftovers from Madison (Pasqual's) but they can wait till tomorrow when I might not been in the mood to cook.
I dropped off my taxes Monday on the way to Madison. I just couldn't concentrate on them in April. I will do better this year. Every year it gets less confusing, but next year I hit the 70.5 when you have to take minimum distributions so I guess I'll keep the accountant. I've used her probably 25 years now, maybe more.
Edit: no more drain for now--hopefully that will be it--no guarantees.
Have a good day, friends. It's beautiful outside!
Connie

Good Evening to All,
Well, i went into my closet after work today, and started to try on jeans. I am a solid 22! Hubert thought I went shopping and bought new ones, I did go shopping, and it didn't cost me a cent, and I now have at least 12 "new" pairs of jeans and cords. I am happy.
Crystal, your cake sounds good. i love German Chocolate Cake. Black Forest too.
Congrats Connie on even attempting the walk.
Sharon, Congrats on the new job. Maybe we should get together and celebrate.
