Monday Roll Call
Hello everyone
Yesterday I had a BBQ I went to. I don't know what it is about meat grilled on a grill but....mmmm yummy!!!! I never get to have that living in an apartment. I was kind of good...I had 2 burgers...minus the buns. I had none of the sides. It was nothing but chips and dips and salads(mac salad, potato salad)...stuff I don't like or shouldn't have. So I figured I might as well have another burger. It was fun and later we got cold and went in. The BBQ was at Chris's brother's house. His brother is single and he definitely has a bachelor pad. The decor is all movie memorbelia...on the walls...movie posters. That kind of stuff. But I liked it...it was cool.
Today is my normal Monday rush. It will be good to keep me busy so I don't have time to get sleepy or bored. I notice the minute I get a slow time at work...that is when all that candy and junk food starts to tempt me. So as long as I stay busy I don't cheat. Other than work I have no plans. How you about guys??
Sharon- I'm so glad you posted. The best thing you can do when you are feeling like that is to reach out to your frineds...Like us. Like Lisa mentioned we have a meet up planned at Rock Bottom in Warrenville, on Sunday the 18th @ 12. Please come. There are plenty of healthy food choices...and lots of laughing and talking. Just what you need!!!
Well I better get going...I need to get to work early. Have a wonderful day. Bye.
Good Morning,
I decided this morning to take my coffee outside and enjoy it on the deck. A nice crisp morning. I have a lot of little things to do today, as well as go To Bloomington tonight.
I did get the pork loin smoked yesterday. I must admit, it was great. Pulled pork for dinner tomorrow night. I even made slaw like they serve at White Fence Farm.
Crystal, have you thought of getting a small gas grill? That way you can grill out at home. We had one for when we wanted to just go on a picnic and not have a lot of stuff to haul.
Kim, I hope you are starting to feel more like Kim.
Connie, have a good trip to Madison.
Have a great day.
Hugs,
Might as well give out a little self info here. I am 18 days sober today and the noon meetings I have mentioned are AA. Mornings are still no fun and they show up more often when you do not stay blitzed through them. I think a proper GBS support group would have been my druthers but I guess the community is just not there yet even though we know and are counseled that alcohol, gambling and sex can be a problem when we do not have food as our vice any longer.
So, I am going to piddle with my computers today and go to a noon meeting.
Randy- I am completely bowled over by your revelation. I guess this really is a huge problem in our community. My one and only demon/ addiction continues to be food. Well Randy keep up the good effort. We're always here for you. Thanks for sharing this with us
Is there a alcoholism board on here...if not I think there should be.
Randy, Thanks so much for trusting us enough to share this with us. I am so happy for your amazing 18 days sobriety. Congrats my dear one.
I have been eyeballing a Celebrate Recovery meeting for weeks to deal with my demons. It's oddly funny that we know it will help, but the pain of starting is scary. It is the enemy that keeps me frozen in this misery and pain.
Blessings and Hugs,
Sharon
I have a tough time on this site, I don't think it's very friendly!! The site, not the people. I am trying to find people in Illinois on Medicaid who are working towards their surgery. Medicaid now requires 6 months of DR supervised diet and exercise before they will consider approval of the surgery. I am 2 months in on the program, go back to see my DR in November. Anyone and everyone, please fill me in!! Whether you have already done the 6 mth gig, or are working it, I'd like your feedback.
Main Question: After the 6 months, were you aprroved? How much weight did you lose during those 6 months?
I have dieted so many times, my metabolism is a mess, and it was very low to begin with. I've been watching my portion size just as my DR recommended, and haven't lost a pound. I have been participating in therapy through my local hospital, and have been much more active during this time, and I feel more mobile, so that's good. Also, the therapy includes water exercise, and I love it.
Crystal M. - I know this is a reply to your Monday Roll Call, but I don't know how to post my own question. Can you see that this gets out, please? Thank you!
