University of Chicago

Hi all!! I am a newbie here and was wondering if anyone has had bypass surgery with Dr. Prachand or any of the surgeons at the University of Chicago? I have my first appointment with him, the nutritionist and psychiatrist on August 14th. I was hoping some of you had some experience with them and could tell me what to expect. Thanks so much in advance!!!

I have not used the Uof C, I am with the Kane Center in Elk Grove Village, but I just wanted to welcome you to this site and invite you to join us in the daily roll call. That is where we chat and learn about each other, and really become friends. You are at the beginning of a wonderful journey, and we would love to be part of it with you.

Welcome to the Illinois Board!  Unfortunately, I did not use the U of C either.  However, I found that in the upper right hand corner under find a surgeon and find a hospital you will find some very helpful evaluations by other patients.  I found that VERY helpful for me when I was trying to find out more info about my surgeon and the hospital that she used. 

Like Lisa,ge you to join us in the daily roll call.  We are a very friendly group who love meeting people.  We have people in all stages of the journey.  A few of us like it here so much we haven't left!    We are a great support system to each other in all aspects of our lives not just surgery.  Occasionally we have a meet and greet which we are in the planning stages of a new one now.   That helps us to be able to better picture each other.

Again, welcome.  You are beginning a journey that all of us would repeat in a heartbeat!  It is one of the most exciting times of your life!
