Thursday Roll Call
Hello Darlins,
What a crazy couple days it has been. I have been working from 6a to 7p everyday doing foreclosures. Romeoville is cashed. There are so many empty houses. There is a subdivision in Lockport too that is like a ghost town. We actually looked at that subdivision when we moved here 10 years ago. They were offering those mega homes starting at 169K. I recall thinking that was really cheap but I did not want to build. So we decided to buy in a more developed area, but here it is 10 years later, and those new homes sit empty on all that gorgeous farm land that was sold and developed. I wonder where all those people go? Most were transplants from the SW burbs and the city. What a shame.
I am off today and intend to go work out and then do some shopping and run a couple errands. It's bad when there's no bread, eggs, butter, milk and yogurt in the house.....the final straw was when I came home last night to grab a bottle a water and there was none. A trip to Trader Joes will cure this problem.
Roseland Hopsital has finally started dumping members of the board for gross mismanagement. The positive is they know why the hospital was failing and can fix it and hopefully keep it open.
I am loving the long days of sunlight. I fell asleep last night and I could see the light thru my shades. Yes, I was asleep before 9p. Pathetic!
Have a great day dear ones,
Sharon
I
Hello everyone
I was so busy yesterday it was go, go, go from the time I woke up till it was bedtime. But I slept so good. Today is more of the same and overtime at work too.
My sinuses are acting up today too...the humidity maybe??? I don't know.
I have to get back on track with my eating too. I have been good about not eating out too much. Which that in it's self is good. When you are dating you are always going out to eat. And when we do go out to eat...I have been ordering either Chicken or a turkey burger (without mayo) and no fries. But we haven't even gone out to eat since Saturday (and that was for my birthday). What is killing me is the "special" things I keep making. I need to just stop with that. And go back to healthy meals. I am cheating way too much.
Well today is more the same...work (overtime again), more errands, I have to replace my toilet set cover, I want to give myself a pedicure. So that will keep me busy.
Have a good day all...see ya later...bye
Good Morning on Summers Eve.
Sharon, I remember when those big houses first came up, I was wondering how people would ever pay for them. When we first got married, in 1966, we looked at a house that was new, at $18000. It scared me to death, thinking the payments, without the taxes and insurance, were 180 a month. Hubert was only making 500 a month gross. We never did pay over 140 a month, and we haven't payed any house payment in years. It really does change your outlook when you really own your own place.
Crystal, having a love life does mess up your diet. But, its all good. We went Mexican last night, and I ordered the special. It was 3 items, and I ate one. I have leftovers for lunch for the next 2-3 days.
Nancy, I love your cat stories.
Dawn, I am planning a trip to Goodwill on Sat. (I think) to find stuff for upcycling.
Connie, what are you up to this week?
Randy, you too.
Hubert is off today, he is already outside working on the decking. We are going to a play tonight. Leading Ladies. It sounds like fun.
Hugs,
Lisa- We don't do a lot of dining out. I have come to not like dining out (except for Chipotle). I believe they don't use the quality, organic meats I use (Chipotle uses hormone, antibiotic free grass fed meats). And they almost always cook much more fattening than I do. For instance my turkey burgers are hundreds of calories less than Fridays. Why??? I don't know...and mine are tasty. So why go out? Chris is loving my home cooked meals (he's been single for awhile and can't cook at all). We go out after we eat or come home to eat. My problem has been making treats and big meals. Well I am putting a stop to that....and going back to my trusty crockpot low calorie meals and fruit and peanut butter treats. They are good just not as rich.
Good morning Sharon and the rest of Illinois!
I am at work and taking a small break to check in.
Not a lot new happening here. I am going to look for chandeliers after work and tomorrow, finish power washing the house. I also hope to get my furniture painted since Liv and Nick have been priming them. Once the furniture is painted and the swing stained, the porch will be ready for decorating!
I just looked at the forecast and it says it may be 99 on Sunday! Ick! I hate ice and snow, but extreme heat is not good either. Can't we just have a few weeks of moderate temps? Oh well, I guess I will find more stuff to wash. I will probably make another batch of lotion bars too. I want to try a shaving cream also.
Everyone have a great day!
Dawn- I don't like extremes either but if given choice I would rather have heat. The Winter is just so long and awful. I get so tired of cleaning my car off and scraping my windows. I am so glad I an run outside with just flip flops...and I don't have to put on a coat, hat, scarf, gloves, boots....ugh!!! The heat can get stifling but at least I wear nice Summery clothes and just jump in my car and go...and no icy roads!!! So I can drive a normal speed...hahaha!!!! No dead trees and brown grass...
Oh ya I love sitting on a porch on a hot day and catch a breeze....with an iced tea. Now that's living!!!! With green trees, grass and pretty flowers!!!! Yeah!!! Summer has it's perks...
Hello,
I don't have much going on this week, just the regular knitting and nothing else. I'm enjoying the cool weather and the beautiful garden. We were thinking about going to Door County but decided to wait till fall.
I was thinking about the large houses that Sharon wrote about. when I pass them I think "who wants to spend the money to live in a house that big?" and "who can afford that?" Well, now there are empty large homes everywhere! What a waste! I think our small house is still too big for two people. We tend to spend the most time in the computer room or on the porch. I could design a house with a great room and a bedroom and be done with it, well also a screened porch!
So, I am curious about who are the 60+ people *****ad these posts? Even if we all go on this 3X a day (which we probably don't) that would not account for all the readers. So, speak up people and let us get to know you!

Sharon- I went to Trader Joes last weekend. It was the first time I went in about a year and half. Oh how I missed that place. It was great being there again. I wish they would build one closer to me. But you know with me driving up to Bolingbrook all of the time, the one in Naperville is not that far away. I think I will be going more often. I need to take Chris there and introduce him to the wonder that is Trader Joes!!!!
Yes I agree with Connie...come join us. You find us interesting enough to read us everyday....try posting and let us get to know you. By now you know we are a friendly bunch and never fight or bicker. And we talk about anything and everything and don;t limit our conversations to food, diet, WLS....I think that would make for a boring roll call after awhile.
