Friday Roll Call

Galena is slowly awakening. Today I am going to the two bead stores to shop around. I have a list for what to get. Dave is going to the US Grant/Galena museum. I had my fill of that last year and cannot take all of those details in. Just my style of learning . . . I am a reader but on my own terms so it does not become information overload. We walked the north portion of the nature trail yesterday and I saw an Indigo Bunting for the first time. I also saw another small mostly black, orange near the wings and white rump bird. It is about the size of a sparrow. I wish I brought my Audubon book with. I will look it up later. I did not get to see Cedar Waxwings like I did last year but have seen a lot of Orioles and Yellow Warblers. It is neat when you are in a more wooded area to see different birds.

Tomorrow after the US Grant Main St walking tour we will head home on the 150 mile ride. I really do not consider 150 miles as close by especially the type of driving that goes into getting here, not fun as the interstate is all torn up so we ended up coming Rts 20 to 72 to 39 and back to 20. Pretty country but a lot of traffic coming off side roads, but better than going through construction.

Beautiful weather for a few more hours.  I got the rest of my stitches out yesterday then went to the loop and the jr wally on Chicago.  Even jr has interesting folks but then they are out on Chicago as well.  The bus ride was too full with school kids and a UN mix of us oldies with no translators but conversations going on.  I finally got a seat and could see there was a half empty bus following us.  Does anyone think that public transportation will ever actually try to serve the public.

A stroll, a lecture, a quiz and then seeing if my Pong game matches the rubric or if I need to rewrite it.

Randy

So you have been forgiven?

Sometimes you have to wonder what the CTA is thinking by having such a packed bus and an empty one right behind. I am not sure if it is poor management or stupidity. People should have been directed to the second bus when the front one was full.

Morning Christine and Y'all,

I love birds. I love the migration process and sometimes seeing a flock of something just stopping in for a rest and bite to eat. One year in the fall, I had a tree of Blue Jays taking a respite on their way home somewhere. They stayed for about 2 hours and away they went again. Late yesterday, I filled all the feeders even tho they were half full since we are going to be gone. Imagine my surprise this morning when i found them all empty. What the heck! I'm thinking something must have flown in last night and just gobbled everything up. It usually takes about 5-6 days to empty those feeders. Our good friend attracts orrioles with orange peels.

Yesterday I went to the Goodwill in Lemont and found the perfect jean capris that I have been wanting so desperately. I was so happy. Best 3.99 I have ever spent.  A dear friend of mine who has always been very well to do told me yesterday that they had to file bankruptcy. She told me she is learning to live on much less money. This sweet lady has never worked  outside her home. Her hubby is an architect.  I told her I had just come from the Good Will. She looked at me like I was  from another planet. I had to just laugh at her expression. Her response, "but, you drive a volvo"  . HAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHA . I just cracked up and said, that car is 10 years old,  is paid for and has 160,000 miles on it. She was horrified. When I showed her my gorgeous Faded Glory Jeans, she responded by saying, "i've never heard of Faded Glory". Is that a new designer?  She is so cute. I recall the days not so long ago when she and I used to shop all day at Oak brook Mall chasing a $500.00 DKNY sweater that now was marked down to $300.00. What a ridiculous waste of money and time. I know God has changed me and He will change her as well.

Connie, you and Kay have a beautiful vaca.

Lisa, Hubert's masterpiece is just that. Love that grill he made.

Nancy if you want a new puddy I get mine from Sheri Berliner's leads. Her website is www.petraits.com

Sheri is a professional photographer who has devoted her life to taking amazing prtraits of animals from all over the chicagoland area in different shelters or who are being fostered. If you sign up for her e-mails, you will receive daily pics of the cutest cats, kittens and other animals who need a home. Sheri is the sweetest lady you will ever meet. She is a cat lady just like us. She is also on Facebook. Her name is Sherri Berliner.

Crystal, Yay you got the package! Enjoy!

Dawn, looking forward to seeing pics of the porch.

Randy, keep healing and doing whatever it is you do when you are pythoning

Today I am a busy bee. I have to pack and get things in order.

Whats on your Friday outlook??????????

Blessings,

Sharon

I have to say I get a lot of resistance from a lot of people when comes to shopping at Goodwill or resale shops. Most of my friends won't do it. Although, they compliment me on my outfits or a particular clothing item all of the time and I'm not shy about telling a people where I bought and how much I bought it for. They still won't go or they say they've gone and can't find anything. Well funny thing....there are times I don't either but the stock is ever changing, unlike the stores. You need to go back again and again and even go to different stores. I tell them about 50-70%of my clothes come from thrift stores and you would never know it. I wear Gap, Levi's, American Eagle...yep I'm hip and I only paid $3.99 for it!!! Hahaha!!!

Your friend is what I call a "pretty person". They dress to the nines and there is never a hair out of place.

I think something got to the feeders and not birds as they do not feed at night. Cardinals and Rose Breasted Gross Beaks will feed at late dusk. Theory has it that their bright colors attract predators so they have been designed by God to be able to feed when it is just about dark.

Hello everyone

Yeah it's Friday!!!!  And it looks like a nice weekend too!!!

I received my package yesterday...finally!!!  She got me a pair of earrings.  They don't go with anything I am wearing but I don't care.  They are also not my usual style...but I don;t care.  I can hear her...she says my style is boring.  She says I only wear silver jewlery and need to expand my palette.  Well first of all she's right...my jewelry is all silver.  Well it's so slick and morder looking and it goes with everything!!!  She got me these pinkish-brown stone dangly earrings.  They are very "her"...kind of hippy looking...hahaha...is she trying to make me look like her???  Well that's ok...there are worse things.

Today is work and of course I have my date.  I sat and agonized over what to wear.  But that is me...it's a casual date.  I wanted to wear something nice but casual.  So I am wearing a short sleeve purple sweater and jean capris and my earrings.  Oh and he invited me to come over this weekend to help him take his engine apart...yeah!!!...now see that sounds like fun!!!  He said he never thought he would date someone that would find that interesting...and he looks forward to teaching me about cars.  So I get to wear my jeans and t-shirt and baseball cap...and get all greasy!!!  Maybe I can do my oil change while I'm there.

I went to Platos Closet yesterday...I went there before with Amanda but the last time I was there I was still to big to fit in their clothes.  Well I found a pair of capris and 2 tops I liked.  They are all name brand.  I don't really care but some brands are better quallity...like Levis and Gap nd if I can find some for $10..hey why not.  Cause I have had no luck at Goodwill.

So anyway I am off to work have a nice day all...bye.

I am the same as you are with certain types of jewelry. Mostly silver for me also. Once I started making jewelry I expanded my horizon with gold. While here in Galena I had the time to look through some beading magazines I had and was able to expand my interest to using chains, larger charms and other designs. I have enough material that I bought to make 3 more necklaces when I get home.

Good morning friends,

Today is for packing and a last load of wash. Other than that, I haven't much to do. We tend to get ready early. I did find an old swim suit top that needs to be taken in and then it will be kind of cute with my swim shorts. I don't know that I will go in the water but who knows? I gave myself a mani/pedi last night and it looks just as good as the ones I paid big bucks for! LOL

Have a good day folks and a good week. We will have wifi access but with an ipad I don't think I can post here. I'll be reading what you're doing, though.

Connie
