Happy With My New Knee And My Next Step.

I'm happy with my new knee, and I'm just 34 days post-op from a total knee replacement on my left knee. I did have a follow up on May 8, 2013 with my surgeon and he is happy and I'm happy with the way my surgery went and the way my scar looks about a month out. I didn't even have any bruising at all what so ever, but I still have some swelling to this day, but not much. I did post two pictures of my left knee on my profile, 2 days and 34 days post-op from a total knee replacement. My surgeon told me that I am ready to have my next joint replaced as soon as 6 weeks. Tomorrow I'll be 5 weeks out from my knee surgery, but I'll wait for my next follow up with my knee surgeon and wait until I get done with outpatient physical therapy which I start tomorrow for 2 to 3 days a week for 4 to 6 weeks and that'll give me time on when I can choose on when I can have my next joint replacement surgery and on which joint will be replace which might be my right knee or my left hip.

I might have asked this before on this forum and if I did sorry for asking again; I now know what to expect when I have my right knee done, but what is it like to have one of you hips done let alone both hips done? What should I expect when I have my hips done? I know each person is different when it comes to surgery let alone a joint replacement, Can you share with me on what to expect when the time comes for me when I get my hips done?

Thank you in advance.

I've not had a replacement but my friends who have had one or both say that after the first one the rest are better because the rehab had put you in better shape. Everyone I know has kept up the rehab after the prescribed time and so the second knee or second hip is stronger and the recovery shorter. I hope you hear from some OHers who actually had the surgery, but this is what I've heard.

Good luck,

Connie

It's good to know once the first joint got replace and the rest are better because of rehab will make me in a better shape. Really? Keep up more after rehab once the prescribed is up, I didn't think of it until now. Something to look forward to. I hope I do hear from OHers that actually had the surgery.

Thank you birder l./Connie for your info and thank you for your reply to my post.
