Long day ahead. Trader Joe's for Melatonin. Cibola hacking for the day. Social hour. Candlelight Vigil. Risk being misunderstood as the vigil is against gun violence. Not many folks for gun violence. I am not for taking away guns and actually think we need a federal concealed carry law.
Hello everyone
I had a good day yesterday. I finished up my overtime. I guess it's good they only allow me to do this once in awhile because I would go hog wild like I did before. I don't know what it is but it's really hard for me to resist the allure of overtime...hahaha!!! And the more the better!!!! If they don't put a limit on me I can go wayyy over board...and have done so in the past. I told myself I would spend time focusing on myself and less on work....so it's good I only get overtime once in awhile. But I hear there is a big project coming up in June for the same thing I do....and I was told I would be "wallowing" in over time....and inside I was happy to hear it....geeze I am never going to change.
Then after work I went to Fruitful Yield and they do have a wonderful selection of gluten free items. Not specifically what I was looking for but things I will need. I did buy some stuff. They had gluten free cream of chicken soup, pizza crust mix (something I just want on hand...I make good calzones) turkey patties, cream cheese. I am still looking for cream of potato...I think I may need to make my own and freeze it.
I also wanted to tell you about an app I found. I have had an app called Fooducate for 2 years now. It's an app I use to scan a food item at the store and it will tell you how healthy it is based on the normal factors (calories, carbs, fiber) but also based on what kind of preservatives and additives or other questionable chemicals are in our food. And then give it a score A-F. Well I found an app by Fooducate for food allergies and its wonderful. You can customize the app to your specific needs. They have settings for every common food allergy I can think of. Then and this is what sets Fooducate apart from the others...you can set it to warn you of overly processed foods, GMO in foods, if your vegetarian or vegan you can set it warn you of hidden meat products (that happens too). Another great feature of Fooducate is that it doesn't just tell you the foos is bad for you don't eat it...it will then suggest alternative foods that are better for you!!! I tried it out last night and it was great. It does cost $4.99 But it's the best $5 I spent in a long time. Especially since I am new at this and don't know all of the words for wheat yet (there are so many)...and quite frankly I didn't want to spend my Friday night reading labels in a grocery store. With this app I scanned the bar code and it warned me of possible wheat...and gmo or other unsightly things. Sharon this would be good for you too since you like to avoid wheat and I think avoiding GMO is a good idea too!!!
Well today I am going meeting some friends for breakfast and then I am going to Goodwill, Whole Foods, Ulta, and Target. I will be out toward Aurora so I thought I would get in some shopping I always put off because the stores are far away. Then I will workout and do some cleaning and laundry. I need to get it all in today because tomorrow no excuses I HAVE to sit my butt down and do my taxes!!! So I am getting everything done today. So I am in for a very boring weekend.
Well see ya laters gators....bye
Crystal, I am so buying that ap and downloading. Thanks!
GMO is the enemy for me...I also stay far from soy products, corn products, high glycemic foods, non-organic beef, diet and sugar free products.
I know Trader Joes is pretty good about labeling their gluten free products. I am going to Whole Foods tomorrow to buy the Ezekial tortillas which are supposed to be delish.
I LOVE ULTA. I could spent hours in that place.
Hugs,
Sharon
Sharon- I have been organic for awhile now (all my meat and produce and dairy is organic). But I am also staying away from soy...more 90% of soy is now GMO (sadly corn is the same way) and not to mention the plant based estrogen in soy that is bad...they have tried to debunk this...but some say that soy industry is behind that. And for a little over a year now I have been staying away from diet and sugar free and fat free products...because #1 they are full of artificial flavorings and preservatives and just over processed it not even funny. Have you seen the ingredient labels on those...they're a mile long!!!! But the sugar free items or artificial sugars are so bad for you. And more and more studies are coming out showing they actually cause people to gain weight. Yes the NUT I had was ahead of her time she told me all of these things 3-4 years ago. she was pro whole natural foods. She said she would rather me eat full fat versions of food and eat smaller portions than eat the fat free version. As far as high gylcemic foods...I pretty much do that too.
Trader Joes is just too far away from me and although it would be fine to drive now...I am thinking about the Winter when I need to gorceries. But Whole Foods is just another 5 miles away from my doctor (Rt 59 and 75) so I can make a monthly track up there when I see my doctor. I am going today just to see what they have.
I love Ulta too...I wish they had one in Joliet. I need a new primer and the one I use is at Ulta.
Hi Randy,
Coffee injected as well. I stayed up way too late last nigh****ching tv. I am paying for it today.
Randy, there are so many social issues that people have taken sides on and I applaud anyone who has taken the time to think out any issue, process it, form an opinion and then stand up for their beliefs no matter what they are. I find there are always good arguments on both sides in most cases.
Even though I am not a gun owner nor care to be one; I am a proponent of the 2nd amendment and believe people should have the right to bear arms. BUT, I am also firmly on the side of the parents of the slain children in Sandy Hook who have been on capitol hill recently trying to get the laws changed regarding assault rifles, background checks and limiting the number of rounds.
It is a complex issue that has more than gun control as the problem. There is the mental health component and the gang/police ratio issue. There is the socio-economic issue regarding the people living in the neighborhoods where there is so much gun violence. My in-laws live in Englewood. I have personally seen some of the horrific violence that is pervasive just on their block and around their house. When the shots start, everyone goes in the house, hits the floor and 20 minutes later when the police comes and knocks on their door to ask questions, they know nothing. Even when they know it involved the drug dealer 2 doors away, they claim to know nothing. They are driven by fear/survival. I understand it. It is very easy for me who lives with essentially no violence 50 miles away in Lockport, to think, "just tell the po-po what you know to help stop this." But I am not them. I beg them to move by us, but they will never leave. It is all they know and what makes them feel safe since it is all they know. A sad fact of many people in the ghetto. My in-laws both graduated from college, are retired professionals and were born in the South. I am amazed they stand for this way of life. So it doesn't surprise me, people who are born into the ghetto with no education, accept the violent way of life there. OK, I am jumping down off my soap box.
I froze my behind off yesterday. I was at Crystal's Walmart yesterday in Joliet. The place is gynormous and B-U-S-Y. I'll have to go back sometime. I just ran in for water. Crystal they are opening a Tuesday Morning in Joliet by the Marshalls on Larkin. I went to the Catherines over there to see if I could find something to wear for tonight and everything looked like clown clothes on me. I am almost too small for that store now. I can fit in the 0X but it doesnt fit right. So I went to the Marshalls and found a couple things for our trip to NY next month. I bought a pair of Marc Jacobs white pencil pants. I havent owned a pair of white pants in 35 years.....I cant wait to wear them.
I am off to get my hairs cut.
Hugs,
Sharon
Sharon- I guess I don't understand why people stay there or accept their lives the way they are. They do nothing but complain about how bad it is...well get off your butt and do something about it. If I didn't I would still be sitting in some sh*tbox in Aurora, with no education and probably on welfare. But I didn't accept that as my way of life or my daughter's. It wasn't easy. I had to work 2 jobs. I had to go back and get my GED. I had to work 50 hours a week and go to night school to get my degree. Things weren't handed to me...I have the school loans to prove it. Seriously, coming from someone that was a 15 years old pregnant and a highschool drop out...that was kicked out of her parent's house a year before that....I don't feel sorry for them. I had to work my but off to get out of the hole I was in and if I can do it anyone can do it. I am an average person...they can do it to. I had no car, no drivers license, no money and a kid. And I did it with no welfare money or help from my parents...I worked.
I grew up around people on welfare. My family was on welfare. I have to say most can get off welfare if they weren't so lazy. Most are scamming the system...including my family. I was surrounded by people my whole life scamming the system (not just my family but neighbors). They would give each other tips on what to say to Public Aid. Please...most of these people are not victims...con-artists, maybe. I can give you a list examples of how people scam the system (or used to scam the system)...and this is just from personal experience. I would gather to say about 70-80% of the people on welfare don't need to be on welfare.
I know this sounds harsh but I get so annoyed when people act the victim when all they need to do is get off their butts and try. But it's easier to sit at home and sleep and watch tv. Believe me there were days I would see my neighbor lazing around and I had to trudge off to work (I had to walk) and I would think how lucky she is...but I know I am really the lucky one.
Man, OH is wonky lately. I will not let me choose a font color.
Going to the cleaners to have some slacks hemmed. It is hard for me to find the length I need. The clothing manufacturers are all over the board with the inseams. I like a 29" inseam and sometimes the petites are a 28" and sometimes they are a 29", then the regulars start at 30". I cannot win. The manufacturers are all over the board with which side the zipper opens. Sometimes the zipper flap is on the right and other times on the left for ladies slacks. I could hem them but that is really time consuming.
Costco at about noon, we will share a hotdog before we shop so we do not do impulse buys, have my phone ap list and will stick with it. Afterwards we are going to visit my sister. She was moved to rehab in Woodstock on Thursday afternoon. I made up a goodie box for her with talcum powder, lotion, "squeezie" balls (she also had a stroke), 100 cal cookies (she can share with the grandkids), body spritz, hard candy, Kleenex and a 2014 calendar book with orders that she needs to stay around until 2014 to use it. Here is a picture of the box. It is 9"x12"x5" deep box with wrapping paper to make it look pretty.
Here we go. Finally was able to copy and paste.

Good Morning,
Randy, I agree with you. As unusual as it is.I can also agree with Sharon on this issue. The one thing wrong with limiting the amount of ammo you can buy, is that, if for say, you can buy ten rounds per month, whats to stop you from from hoarding it for 10 months, and having 100 rounds.
I went to Alexian Bros. yesterday for my pre op. We left here at 5:45 and got there about 10 to 8. Had a blood test, EKG, and upper GI. I was done by 9. We had some coffee in the cafe, and then went to Menards for a bunch of stuff Hubert needed. I did get 2 bags of birdseed.
We then went to the Streets of Woodfield to see 42. It was a good movie to see on the big screen. I totally enjoyed it. So did Hubert.
I did get to the Dr.s, everything is a go for Friday.
Nothing to much for today, We may be heading for Yorkville later.
Have a great day,
Hugs,
LISA
If they limit the amount of rounds you can buy (and I can understand the reasoning there) I would hope there is a way for people like me that want to go down to the gun range for the day and shoot off 50 rounds...to purchase bullets exclusively for this purpose. You have to buy those rounds to shoot them. There would have to be a way for those to be separate from regular personal use purchases. Because 10 rounds at a gun range would take 5 minutes and then your done. That's no fun!!!
That is the only thing that stands out for me as a problem to this law. Otherwise limit the amount. I would only need a small number of rounds at home. I would hope I never need to use them and if I did why on earth would I need 100?
