Nervous & Scared For This Coming 04/09/2013.
You're right that each doctor is different. The motion machine is the first time that I have heard of it today. I am 5 foot 5 inches tall and I hope I don't have any problem with it.
I was told that I'll get an epidural (under a different name) and something else to put me to sleep. What?!! You woke up twice during surgery?!! That is one of my fears about surgery. I worry about if I get to much and I won't wake up let alone if I don't get enough where I wake up during surgery. I bet about hearing about the saw on your leg let alone the pressure. I guess that's why the doctor would use the epidural on the patient. I bet the look on your face and the doctor's face, sorry for saying this, but the looks must have ben priceless. I hope it doesn't happen to me. That's good that you didn't wake up during the second surgery.
I think all doctors are like that about having you walk at some point after surgery, it depends on what kind of surgery that a person went through. I bet it was the last thing you wanted to do.
I am going to have my left leg done first. I have to be ready about the pain that I know I'll be going to have if I'm ready or not. I am planning on to taking the pain med(s). before the PT session. I'll keep that in mind about the ice therapy. I know that the knee will react differently. I'll look around for a good freezer gel type pack or two so I can be prepared.
Thank you for your info on my post. I do appreciate it.

I know that each doctor is different, but How long did your husband use the passive motion machine during recovery and how many times a day? May I ask? I just want to get myself ready just incase my surgeon wants me to use one. Is there anything I should know?

For 3 weeks and it was 4-6 times a day. He cannot remember exactly.
You just need to touch base with your doctor to find out if you need to know anything else.

Wow! That long?
I will touch base with my doctor on what I need to know and anything else with my doctor. I just want to be ready for anything.
