I was curious if anyone here is from southern Illinois,and going to have their surgery at Herrin hospital with Dr.Ahuja or Dr.Sudhakaran?Also are you using public Aide insurance? I know they take it just wanting to know some other info if possible.

Hello, welcome to the IL board. I live way up in DuPage County near O'Hare so I cannot help you with your questions. I am not sure where you are located whether it be near St Louis or further south but did you try asking your questions on the close by state boards near you? I am no where near where you are from...I am about 40 miles west of Chicago.  I had regular insurance through my workplace...but I am assuming the process to get approved for surgery will be similar.  So if you have questions ask...I can only let you know how my experience was.  I really don't think state insurance and HMOs are that different...they are both a pain to deal with.

Hi, Welcome to the Illinois board. I am also from the northern half of the state, but, I have a friend on Medicare and Medicade from the state of IL. She lives in Belleville, St. Clair County, and she is going to Barnes in St. Louis. I do know that she is required to have a 6 month weight check by her doctor and a monthly visit to a dietitian. Plus the normal clearance from her own dr., cardio dr,  lung dr,  and a phych evaluation.
