Tuesday Roll Call
Good morning Randy and the rest of Illinois!
I am home....SNOW DAY! I tried to go to work but I barely got a 1/4 mile and decided to turn around. I could not see at all and when I stopped I slid. Better safe at home. I seem to have hurt my back shoveling. It is always something.
I will go down and find a roast for the oven and see what else I can make. I will be making some lotion bars and I think a couple of phone calls. Probably have to clean some too. All that is if I can get my back to cooperate.
I sent an email to the Board of the Playhouse and stirred up a bees nest. I tell ya......I hate committees and boards. Some people are so pompous.
Everyone stay safe and warm!
Dawn, I am glad you decided to stay home today. You are one less person I have to worry about.
LISA
Dawn- Sometimes you have to stand up and stick up for your kid. Good for you!!!
As far as your back goes you be careful. You don't want to start with back problems...for the rest of your life. I one time I hurt my back just opening a stuck window!!! Backs can be very fickle. If it doesn't get better in a couple of days you better go see a doctor...I mean it!!!
I don't want to waste money on a keurig. We found a black and decker for $20. and we can use our own coffee, not those expensive pods. I'd rather spend the money on fresh beans from Jadabug which are roasted right here in Rockford--as fresh as you can get it! I go to Starbucks for the people, same as going to the Bookworm for coffee (theirs is really good, too). I just love to be around people. Drinking coffee at home isn't the same. I like to sit in coffee shops and read the paper or knit. There's an organization in Chicagoland called Knit in Public. I do that almost every day! (LOL). I'm amused that there is an organization for this!
I'd say we have about four new inches of snow in our yard.I can't imagine what the total might be!

Hello new friends, I don't know the correct way to put a post on here so I hope this works. We had a safe trip to Silver Cross. I called this morn to see if they could fit me in early for the blood test so we were back home before the snow began to pile up. Tomorrows appointment with the heart Doctor is at 2 so the roads should be ok. I sure hope he gives me a clearance for the surgery. I wore a heart monitor a few months ago so maybe he can. Crystal, the Peru pictures were interesting. I have a friend who was in the Peace Corp in Armenia. She shared her experiences with us. I admire those who can give up our privileged ways of living to help people.
I look out my window at all the white stuff and think of old days when we made snow ice cream. I wonder how it would taste using splendra? Norma
My heart Dr is Seth Martini in the Heartland Group. I have a mild untreated case of AFib. Dr Joyce referred me to him before lap band surgery. He is also my Husband's Dr. His office called about my appointment tomorrow and they don't have my referral, I was told it had been faxed yesterday, when I called my primary's office had closed early, now we have to go there in the morning. I hope the snow doesn't' get any worse. Norma
Good Afternoon Everyone!
Well, I played chicken today! I got up, took another look at the weather forecast and it was still saying 8-9 inches of snow coming at an inch an hour. I picked up the phone and called in that I was not coming to work. I am so unsteady on my feet I would be on my butt for sure and once I am down, I cannot get up. Rick keeps telling me I would be perfect in the commercials for those home monitoring systems! A couple of weeks ago Smokey and I were playing on the bed and I ended falling off the bed and I played havoc trying to get up. It is so sad it is comical. I got Smokey back by wrestling with him until he fell off the bed!
We shall see what tomorrow will bring. It is so slick outside (according to Rick).
So I am safe and warm and enjoying a snow day!
Norma, good to see you posting. It is funny you mentioned snow ice cream. I was laying in bed this morning and thinking that this was a perfect day to make some and wondering if Splenda would work as well. I may try it.
Lisa, I broke down and bought a Kerig around Christmas. I dont drink coffee but it makes yummy hot cider, hot chocolate and teas and you can find all of those in the diet version! Love it. I make a big mug to take to work in the morning.
Randy, enjoy your ventures today. Just stay safe and watch for slick spots as you walk. What's at the Mart tonight?
Crystal, all of our schools closed early. They no sooner got the kids there than sent them home. They should have just called off school at the start of the day. I would be tearing my hair out with the auditors and biting my tongue to keep from asking where they put the earlier copies that I gave them if they asked for repeat copies.
Lisa, I think this would be a great day for Chicken and noodles! Too bad Streator is so far away.
Sharon, your dinner sounds yummy as well. Also how fun it will be to surprise your group leader. Hope it all works out and does not get cancelled.
Connie, enjoy your day home today. This is a good day to stay inside, read, snuggle in a blanket, cook and do things around the house. And if you have a fireplace, enjoy it!
Dawn, I am so glad you are not on the road today! I am so sorry you hurt your back. Be kind to it. Give it lots of tender care and here's a kiss to help make it better. I am also glad you wrote an email to the play house. Your patience is better than mine. I am afraid I would have opened my mouth much earlier. You go girl!
Norma, I am glad you got to your doctor's appointment and back home today before the snow got too bad. Please be VERY careful tomorrow. I know they do an excellent job in the more urban areas of clearing the snow but blowing and drifting can happen and roads and sidewalks can be icy without realizing it. My fingers are crossed that you get your clearance for surgery!
Everyone stay SAFE!

Nancy, Hubert does the hot chocolate thing, and he will drink french vanilla cappachino. I am the coffee nut.
You were smart to call in also. A friend of mine this morning ended up on the curves at Utica (RT 6) in the ditch. A nice state cop gave her a lift to work in Ottawa, she was calling Conroys to get her out and bring the car to Utica when I talked to her.
